If we are hovering around the 8th spot in 2 weeks what will we do?

I can't see Wang doing anything that will increase payroll, no matter how much he says Snow has the authority to do so.

even if it guaranteed him at least 2 sell outs? more likely than that

if this team makes the play offs the coliseum will be rocking even harder then in 2002

one thing I can guarantee, is that Wang won't spend a chunk of REAL money to improve the team. If he can't re-sign them, it would make sense to trade Vis, Streit, Nabakov, and Boyes, because they all have some value ( see last year, Parenteau)

Ryan to the Isles makes too much sense. Im just curious what its going to take. I would say what Kessel got the Bruins is what its going to be. Ryan is a stud and not getting top minutes in Anaheim. I see the Isles making a move even if its not Ryan.

I would like to add some help no doubt, but not for giving up our future, or an important piece to our future. But whatever happens, lets just not give up or settle for complacency, lets just keep getting better everyday and by next year's trade deadline we won't need to worry about this. And that's for everyone in the organization, including the current players.

I hope I'm wrong about Wang, but I just don't see him adding significant payroll to get this team over the hump.

And you're right about the Coliseum. I was there in 2002 and it was as loud as I ever heard it when Bates scored.

They should either fish or cut bait. Obviously you add if you are in contention. But if you don't then you have to trade anyone not signing up for next season.

Us? We will likely stand pat, losing the UFAs next season and adding nothing to help now because the only thing Wang cares about at the moment is saving money. Not winning, but saving.

Just to add something to my earlier post...

Games left before the 4/3 trade deadline: 11
CORRECTED Games out of playoffs today:3
Schedule w/ # games against that club in that time:
TB:1
Fla: 2
Ott: 1
Mon: 1
Pitt: 2
Wash:1
Phi: 1
NJ: 1
Jets: 1

Fla is the only club that sticks out as what should be wins, with the rest being either 50/50 or outright losses, like Philly who own us.

I am not seeing a break to get those extra points to pass either the Rangers or Jersey by the trade deadline, and between the poor coaching and lack of leadership in the locker room I would lean towards the club fading out of playoff contention.

If they do fade, would Garf become a seller of anyone who isn't signed?

After seeing Snow stubbornly hold onto players like Satan, Knopoka (sp), PAP at the trade deadline, when he didn't get his asking price, it's tough to guess what he's do this time around.

If we got someone big and capable, Boyes would be on line 3 scoring 15-25 goals next year.

Cool. Put the worst defensive player on the team on the 3rd line. Good one.

If the team was serious about winning, they'd kick garbage like Boyes to the curb. Instead, Isles fans continue to justify the Wang/Snow approach by rationalizing the existence of this kind of crap on the team. But, he scores points (on the PP)!

Yeah, he scores. He plays better in the neutral zone than Reasoner most nights. He is what he is. If I had ANY, and I mean ANY faith in Snow being able to get talent from anywhere but a dumpster dive, I'd say trade him, but....if we're playing within the reality of Wang owning this team, if we can get a few quality guys, we do the best we can with what dreg we have. And try and do better next offseason waiver pickups.

So Boyes can score, I'm sure we can have two defensively apt players and treat Boyes like the weakest link defensively and the strongest shooter.

If we had a dedicated owner, this conversation never happens.

This might be a subject for another poll-How many points are the Islanders out of the play-offs
by April 3rd to be considered out of the race?

I dunno...I see some winable games there. TB, FLA, OTT, MTL (Isles play well against them), WASH, NJ, WPG are all winable games. POssibility of going 8-3...really we will go 1-10.

I think the Isles have a pretty good schedule in April?

Wow. You sure do like Boyes.

No, I just know what our GM does for a living. We're drafting haaaahhhd and free to spend if Garf thinks we need to.:yo:

No defense, no REAL help from Bailey, Okposo, Reasoner, CMac, Nielson with scoring, no physical game to make our defense stronger.....it is what it is. We need the goals until we get a real GM.

Visk is as good as gone in my book.

Boyes if anyone has any interest

Nabby is tempting but I would want to have a deal in place or a deal made that brings back another goalie before I ship Nabby. As awful as it sounds, we may need him next year.

Reasoner - probably put him on waivers around the deadline and hope someone bites. I dont see anyone dealing for him.

Bailey or Okposo could be had. Okposo s going to be harder and harder to deal as his salary goes up.

Martinek, Finley, Hickey, Amac are all available but I doubt anyone wants them...

Okposo's salary is gonna be $3m next season. According to Staples recent midseason grades article, Snow has gotten plenty of calls about trading Okposo.

The problem is, Staples says they are lowball offers, which don't interest Snow.

And I couldn't disagree more about MacDonald being available. He plays 1st pairing minutes, making a dirt cheap $550,000 per season. Snow would not trade MacDonald.

And when we don't, will you admit you're wrong about Snow and the Isles, or just continue to spew?

What has snow done in the past to make one think otherwise and not 'spew'?

Randy Robitaille, Kip Miller, Darren van Impe or any fringe NHLer, here we come!!!
