With the looming possibility of a Canada being incorporated into the United States, would the hypothetical state of Canada win a cup sooner? With lower tax rates and easier accessibility throughout the United States, free agents may be more willing to go to a Canadian team. As a result, a Canadian (or former Canadian) team could win a cup sooner.

I'm going to have to say yes. Canadian fans of their franchise should hope for an annexation in regards to their teams' success.
