Considering his stellar performance in his first ever playoff game against Tampa... if they re-drafted the 2021 class, where does Matthew Knies go?

Is he top-10... maybe top-5, or is that saying too much?

Definitely not top 5. You might have a case for top 10 right at this very moment but probably somewhere around the 15 spot imo

"Stellar performance" He played great, but did he even have a point ? I love the kid but gotta chill a little with this one. 1st round for sure, maybe between 10-15.

He led the team with 5 hits, imposed his will numerous times on a battle-hardened championship team in his first ever playoff game. He drove to the net with authority, and created chances. This in his 4th game of his NHL career. For reference, The Athletic graded him A+ on the night. That's a stellar performance, even if he didn't register a point.

If I was ranking the 2021 prospects in terms of how much I'd want them based off what we know today (so basically trade value), since its too early to tell NHL impact, it'd look something like this:

1. Power
2. Beniers
3. W. Johnston
4. McTavish
5. K. Johnson
6. Hughes
7. Guenther
8. Stankoven
9. Zellweger
10. Eklund
11. Clarke
12. Edvinsson
13. Wallstedt
14. Sillinger
15. Knies

Maybe as high as 14th, as low as the early 20s depending on how you value guys like Coronato, Othmann, Moser etc

Probably not even top 10, but there are few guys in that draft that are a better fit for the Leafs immediate needs, if any.

He is 20 years old. Probably in the top 5 right now if you assumed he was at this level at 18

 Might want to rein it in a bit.

I'd agree. You can't really expect much more from a 20 year old kids 4th game and 1st playoff game. Pretty amazing!

He moves up in a re-draft based on playing games in the regular season and playoffs. He'll really move up once he establishes himself as a regular in either or both of the aforementioned.

How was it not?
He played very well and showed composure. Also looked great on that line. But in a 7-2 game he didn't record a point and he took a pretty foolish penalty when we could have taken advantage of a 5-on-3 (namely blast a bunch of shots from the point to further bang up the Bolts). Since I have very high expectations for this player I don't think it's valid to say he had a stellar performance

I don't think that was a real penalty. TB player had his stick knocked out of his hand pretty easily. They know how to work the system. Just like the Luke Schenn "Crosschecking Penalty" where he pushes the guy with is gloves, and he completely collapses in front of the net.

He goes in the first round but the way he plays reminds me of Jason Robertson.

Their line won each shift and he is learning the ropes. He is still a kid but will hopefully learn fast.

Already playing an aggressive, confidenf game as he becomes more confortable.

Physical players can add more than just scoring, they can help wear down the opposition over a series and drivng to the net is natural for him.

Remember, he is playing a team that has lost only one series in their last 12 and is doing well so far only to hopefully improve.
