If there was an expansion draft today, who would your team protect?

I believe teams need to have skaters under contract exposed that meet games played requirements. 2 forwards one defenseman and a goalie.

You forgot the rule about having to protect those with NMC's unless they agree to waive them.
For this exercise it’s probably safer to ignore that because if teams actually had notice of such a thing coming up they'd have made acquisitions to, say, not have to give up their franchise goalie because their only other goalies are ELC exempt. Teams would sign a Martin Jones to expose, and not have to throw an all star goalie to the expansion team because an expansion draft appeared on them as a surprise.

those are the obvious 5 forwards they would protect(that aren't exempt anyways), after that it gets a bit tougher
probably Kostin? the Wings bought out Yamamoto to bring him in and he's 24 and signed for the next two years and then an RFA
as for the 7th Perron and Sprong are only signed for this year anyways, as is Fischer
that leaves Fabbri and Veleno, the Wings seem kinda tepid about Veleno's future here and seem to like Fabbri but on the other hand Fabbri's always injured, I still think they'd probably pick Fabbri to keep around if they had to choose between them
Petry has an NMC so would have to be protected
Walman also feels like somewhat of a lock
as for the 3rd, Gostisbehere is only signed for this season anyways and Seider(as well as prospects like Edvinsson etc) is exempt so that leaves Chiarot,Holl, and Maatta
from a sheer effectiveness standpoint it should probably be Maatta but the Wings really seem to like Chiarot a lot for some reason so I think they would keep him,

Except the thread is about if the draft were geld today, not at the end of the season. Stamkos has a year left and he also has a NMC, so he has to be protected.
Would be pretty wild if tarasenko was exposed and passed up in two separate expansion drafts.
It's players in their first two pro years, it doesn't go by ELCs. Sanderson is entering his third year and would have to be protected. If the draft had been held pre-july 1 he would have been exempt.

Altnough our org may really love Broberg. The issue there is that of our key aging forwards, we could risk exposing Kane or even Hyman, but not RNH. Of course I'm also assuming that McLeod continues to improve. But in general I'd think the org would be biased towards keeping what youth we have.
