Who would you draft? Have you ever seen him play? Will this player be as good as Kessel?
That *IS NOT* the question.
That is a nearly irrelevant question.
The question is ... are the Leafs a serious Cup threat ? ... or do they need rebuilding ?
If you think they need rebuilding .... Kessel should probably be traded.
SUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE...
if you live in fantasy land, you could say
"Let's trade Homophobic Sluroof"
"Let's trade Clarkson" (nice move Nonis).
"Lets trade Lupul".
But none of those are really that trade-able.
The Leafs need a MAJOR rebuild.
Rebuild = Dumping large cap hits
*MY* idea, is to build from the net out:
(1) Goalie: Bernier. Done. Hope he is as good as I think he might be.
(2) Defence: whoa. Major problems. Need a #1 D man, or as good as can be acquired. Strengthen the blueline as much as possible.
(3) Offence: dump whatever is required to improve (2).
To properly rebuild, you have to dump MAJOR "Win Now" assets ... especially someone like Kessel who is in his prime.
Don't worry though. It's just me who wants to win a Stanley Cup. MLSE clearly doesn't. They make money regardless. Nonis picks up a cheque regardless if he signs a dud like Clarkson. MLSE doesnt have the guts to move Kessel. No real accountability. They want to pretend the team they have assembled is "good". Same old try to squeak into the last playoff spot .... No chance of a Cup ... 47 years of failure .... the BS continues.
And people have the balls to say we don't need a major reset.
**** that.
But that is only frustrating to someone who wants to win a cup. It doesn't matter to the financial vehicle that is the "Toronto Maple Leafs / MLSE inc".
