If Ottawa misses the playoffs, do you think Brady Tkachuk will ask for a trade?

What do you think?

If your captain has publicly requested a trade, I don’t think you are thinking it through. It would make the whole team toxic.
Sure, that doesn't mean he gets to dictate what the team does with it. Trying to force a bad hand too hard will just ensure that there'll be no takers.

I could see an Eichel-like swing for him, where he goes from failing captain to second star hero for a playoff team. Meanwhile it’s partly his fault that original team couldn’t put it together, but it’s fine, Jack, enjoy your dumbass tattoo.

Eichel was the 1st star in that Vegas cup run. But voters are enticed by goals and blissfully ignore assists (because they don’t matter anyway, they’re not even goals !)

I don't think it has anything to do with that.

It's moreso that Tkachuk was put into a role that he is simply not suited for. He is not good enough to be the "main guy" of a team. You put him on a club like the Rangers, or Jets, or Oilers etc. where he doesn't need to be the leader and I think he'd do well.

If you were to compare him to the three prior Ottawa captains (Karlsson, Spezza, Alfredsson) he is many tiers below.

Sure, he was gifted the captaincy in return for signing an extension.

I'm not sure about that. I think he wanted the opportunity to lead a team to glory. Not many teams can offer that to a player that young (at the time). The Sens also had drafted a lot of players that Brady had personal connections to. I think he was overpaid at the time and that helped the extension more than anything.
