Post-Game Talk: If a game is played and no one watches it, does it count?

The Oilers have been playing well for a few weeks now despite the rash of injuries, it's actually galvanized the team if anything. Of course, we'll need Draisaitl, Hyman, RNH, Walman etc. back to have a chance against the Kings but arrows are pointing up with a lot of guys. Nurse and Kulak in particular have really stepped up in Ekholm's absence, Nurse seems to thrive with more opportunity. Vet depth guys starting to get in playoff mode.

Depth forwards are getting hot at the right time.

Arvidsson 5 goals in his last 8 games
Skinner 5 goals and 7 points in his last 11 games
Henrique 4 goals and 9 points in his last 11 games
Brown 5 goals in his last 6 games
Yep. Perry as well. When the games matter, these vets step up. That's why they were signed. I can see this momentum continuing into the playoffs.

Right now, the Oilers are the most dangerous team entering the playoffs. Depth is playing very well, what happens if they get a full lineup...I'm excited.

So did Stecher get injured? I was on a plane and couldn’t watch the game

Yeah same I had it on silent mode in the background as I had an evening meeting and wasn’t really paying attention to it. Saw the Perry goal which was nice, feel good for DR.

Hopefully we can take care of biznus v the Kings tomorrow but it’s an Amazon Monday Night game so I won’t hold my breath. We suck in those.

Mac daddy had a hellava game. He looked loose out there just dangling, not going 100% but just still clearly the best. Both teams where not going full tilt so hard to say much about the game but a win is a win.

They've been outstanding, but one big thing that Skinner-McDavid-Brown have been able to do (that RNH-McDavid-Hyman struggled with) is chasing the puck and forcing turnovers.

If you can get that group and Podz-RNH-RV going again, you've got two top 9 lines that can bring the bees vs. LV.

Also massive shout-out to the 40s 4th line. Lots of speed, good size and a willingness to cycle helped set the tone.

Imo the recipe there is two speedy defensive guys with some size (Janmark, Kapanen, Philp, Podz) and someone with good size (220lb+) and the ability to run around (Jones, Kane, Fred).
Please just keep slower guys like Perry, Henrique, and Ryan away from this line.
About that first line vs RNH-McD-Hyman isn’t so much chasing the loose pucks (that’s that’s a big contributor) but it’s a very subtle thing Skinner does that RNH has no desire to do- and that is camp out in the slot and keep going in and out. If you notice- that occupies a D-man and forces him to constantly check where Skinner is- and that buys McDavid a few extra feet on space. Can’t leave Skinner along to challenge McDavid, and if you do- leaves Skinner open in the slot. Again, very subtle. We all know what 97 can do with 5 extra feet and an extra 2 seconds

I understand the game you just clearly have a bias.
Skinner has 1 game in the last 10 where he never shit the bed thank god he only had to face 18 shots and the Oilers were sound defensively and controlling the play all night, so instead of blowing a trumpet like I told you so, get out your colored pencils and draw him the Vezina trophy because knowing Skinner next game he lets in 3 after 10 shots

Empty net scoring getting hot at the right time.

Depth is really coming through now. Brown staying hot with Connor. And Old man Perry 2 away from 20 goal season... nuts.

Solid game by Stu.. great to see.
40 is the new 35 in this NHL.

I thought he looked good. Good off the rush, keeps a good gap on the forward. Had a nice breakup on a potential cross ice chance too. He looked bigger then i thought he was, wouldn't mind seeing more of him.
Eckholm, Walman, Stecher and Klingberg are all injured. That’s why Dineen is even up playing. Frankly I’d like to see less/none of him because it means the others are back healthy.
