Post-Game Talk: If a game is played and it’s a shitshow, does it count?

Gotta love the f***ing worm.

What is Perry actually talking about though over whats been happening over the last 2 weeks? Seems like if its injuries he's talking about most of those were non contact injuries, or minimal contact.

People can look at this different ways. If the Oilers are pissed, and it seems Perry is talking along those lines does it feed into the kind of thing Nurse did last night?

Focus on the prize, not on the silly games.

Perry, love the fire but he's one of the guys that goes sideways into the shit and doesn't always benefit a club doing that I remember a few games he got unraveled and it costs a team too.

Perry is the player that KK had to take aside one game and sit him on the bench he was getting so fueled.

Keep the powder dry.

I think he just means there was an Oilers "B" squad dressed because the team has had a bunch ton of guys injured/resting and didn't have much of a choice, not that they were dressed to go out there and hurt Kings.

Or at least that is how I took it.

Thanks. I didn't understand what he was getting at and maybe because its just a snippet of interview. Didn't make much sense to me in context. Also what Nurse did there is intent to hurt, and a non hockey play, so again I didn't follow how this was Perry answering to that.

I'll say it too if this was an Oiler on the receiving end of that people would be upset about it. Nurse will get a suspension is my guess. 1 to how many games is the only question imo.

In anycase its absolutely stupid for Nurse to do this headed right into playoffs and with us already D depleted heading into playoffs. Really selfish action that could hurt the team. Last time Nurse did something this jackass stupid was in the Vegas series. That cost us big time.

Looking back on that Nurse rush tonight McDavid has to be licking his chops with how terrible Doughty's skating is right now. Doughty's skating has already been trending down for a few years, but with the injury this year he can barely even pivot. McDavid's going to turnstile him multiple times a game if they try to line match him.

I am pretty sure what he was reacting to was the insinuation that rather than dressing their stars they instead sent their B team out with the purpose of injuring the King players.

I didn't like the Nurse hit either... save it for the playoffs at least when the games actually matter... because you know the league will 100% make this an example and will definitely want the Oilers to be at least 1 more dman short to start that playoff series.

I agree Nurse should have been more discreet at least... did it right there with the ref literally looking down on him while he did the deed. I usually call the reffing shit.. and it was most of the night.. but that definitely had to be called and if it was reversed and it was Doughty doing that to McDavid I would expect a suspension as well (though Doughty wouldn't likely get one... astute veteran play it would be called).

I'm betting at LEAST a 2 game suspension because 1 game doesn't hurt the Oilers at all... NHL will want Nurse to miss at least 1 game of the playoff series.

I'd be fine with a Nurse suspension if all the other dirty plays against our players were enforced the same way. It's no coincidence we're icing a "B team" when 8 or 9 of the regular season roster is injured. They didn't injure themselves.

Either this league has lost the ability to police itself or they're flat out biased against this team.

Darnell gets 2 games, guaranteed.

They don't want to give him 1 since that game is meaningless, even though this shouldn't have a bearing on the decision.

They also don't want to be seen as throwing the Oilers any sort of bone because they are depleted with injuries, even though this shouldn't have a bearing on the decision.

Remember, this is the league that gave Connor McDavid 3 games for a play that resulted in 1 or 2 for other players, simply because they didn't want to be perceived as giving the league's biggest star special treatment, and ended up doing just that in reverse instead.

Not to mention the whole Nurse/Pietrangelo travesty.

George Parros has consistently been more concerned with his own optics than actual player safety.

PS. Also, Byfield will of course be "injured" in the Kings' final two meaningless games, and "doubtful" for game 1, but actually 100% ready to go the entire time.

Of course it is. Kings player is a stupid donkey.

Open first home game with a 0-6L.
End last home game 0-5.

Right now I’m just very Sad Wolverine looking at Ekholm’s pic.😕

Hopefully no more injuries before Round 1 starts (and those that are injured heal)... and hopefully Nurse doesn't get suspended for too many games.
On that, I get that everyone is concerned about the stick to the head, head to the ice...but don't you think Nurse knows that he's hitting his helmet and his helmet is hitting the ice...how badly could that have hurt? My guess is he leaves the ice to try and make it more severe then it was to try and get Nurse suspended. My take, there should be no suspension. Nurse was kinda an idiot for doing that, but I think the 5 minute was just fine. Don't do that shit again, Nurse. Use your fists.

Just looked up the crosscheck that is no way a suspension. That happens all the time. 5 min is too much. 2 mins yes. I don't think he even hit his head on the ice.

I don’t understand why people are freaking out about the last two games against the kings. Neither of which we had a proper lineup.

Missing our two (all world) players in both…

Last night especially, was barely an actual roster. Big deep breath

Remember when we owned the Wpg jets in the regular season and got swept? Regular season means nothing in cases like this.

Pepperidge farm remembers…

Real season starts next week. We will see what happens. Kings play a hard greasy game. We still have an excellent team. Assuming we get our players back from injury (ekholm excluded)

Play the games

Edmonton's supporting cast is impressively bad this year. Most dangerous play anyone wearing an Oiler jersey made tonight was Nurse turn-styling a geriatric Doughty off the rush. If you squint, you can see shades of the decade of darkness teams that would struggle to win games against AHL opponents, they even have RNH pretending to be a first line center to add authenticity.

Kings being total drama queens though. "they're just out to hurt us" and the whole Nurse/Byfield thing, Pure theater.
Meh, they've been a lot better recently. Not surprisingly they didn't score last night because they were support players asked to be drivers. Any team would look like a Decade of Darkness squad missing their 3 franchise players, another top 4 Dman, another top 4 Dman for the second half of the game, bottom pairing Dman, top line forward and two middle 6 forwards.

Not worried about the score vs LA the last 2 games. What worries me is the lack of discipline. It would be costly if our players cant keep their emotions in check. We need to finish our checks and be pests like Perry\Frederic without taking dumb penalties and getting riled up .

Knob preaches that a lot which pisses off many here but its the only thing keeping us from winning it all.
