Post-Game Talk: If a game is played and it’s a shitshow, does it count?

About what I expected. Hopefully we get a whole whack of bodies back and Sunday is a totally different game. Hutson looked very nervous all game, expect that he’ll be better on Wednesday.

Not much to take away from a game like this but:

I sure hope Nuge puts up a better offensive display in L.A.

Maybe no suspension for Nurse but given how short handed they are on defense, more discipline should have been shown on his part.

We were missing nine regulars, didn't even have enough forwards for a fourth line, were fielding two AHL defensemen, including someone who has to be one of the worst hockey players to see NHL action this year in Brown...and we were missing Nurse for over half of it. And we didn't even have Stecher.

Complaining about our performance in this one is beyond pointless.

Edmonton's supporting cast is impressively bad this year. Most dangerous play anyone wearing an Oiler jersey made tonight was Nurse turn-styling a geriatric Doughty off the rush. If you squint, you can see shades of the decade of darkness teams that would struggle to win games against AHL opponents, they even have RNH pretending to be a first line center to add authenticity.

Kings being total drama queens though. "they're just out to hurt us" and the whole Nurse/Byfield thing, Pure theater.

Kings are great actors, playing so close to Hollywood boulevard and we are going to see that stuff the whole series.

Question now is where do you find a few more NHL D-men if Nurse and Stetcher can't go?

Except RNH was actually good back then.

You mean a team that is missing like 9 regulars is going to look worse than normal?

No shit.

How was Hutson in the game?
I missed most of the first, but not great by my eye. Only credited with 2 giveaways, but it felt like play died on his stick a few times. Definitely looked like he was trying some set plays that he's used to that we don't run, which is understandable. Seems like he might have some talent though, so hopefully when he gets used to the systems and speed of the game he looks better.
