Confirmed with Link: Ian Lapperriere out as Phantoms coach

Wait Jason Smith has coached with the Phantoms for four seasons?

Yes, and as I recall him stepping up to be a HC fill-in for a few games early in his stint happened to coincide with the Phantoms getting their shit together for the first time all season. A factoid I've kept in the back of my mind ever since, in case the Phantoms may need a coach of some kind.

Makes you wonder at what point Hilferty’s rectum will be sore enough for him to realize the alumni of this team - are just stealing as much money as they can from Comcast.

I can’t think of another group of former players that hold its ownership in such a chokehold.

Who’s your daddy Hilf? Say it.

I am actually fascinated to see what role they find for him. It can't be management, right? And it's not like he's developed anyone.
I can see them make up a position. One just because it’s Lappy and two to really show they “know what the fans want”

Finding a new coach for the Phantoms is the right move... but it's another case where the right move is possible only because Lappy chose to leave, from what I understand. He wants to be in the NHL, and with Tocchet being hired, he sees no path.

It's not because the organization thought it was time to find a coach for the Phantoms that was both more competent and also a legitimate successor for the NHL job.

Right result, flawed process.
