One former flyer id welcome to the coaching staff would be Simon gagne he's done really well coaching in juniors so far, also would love for kimmo to coach the defense

According to what I have read he's no longer the HC, but he hasn't been fired. Not sure how that works? Is he being promoted in the Flyers' time honored tradition of failing upwards?

Would not surprise me if Tocchet brought him up. It would be extremely dumb and so fully expected.

He was maybe the worst PK coach in Flyers history.

How he was an assistant for 8 years is a f***ing marvel. Unprecedented job security. I remember when they took him off the bench at the end, while keeping his role vague.

You have to laugh that Brad Shaw was hyped as a genius PK and defensive coach…..and maybe he was a good assistant….and he bolts to the Devils to fill that same role. How will some people spin that as a positive?

1. Good
2. Why did it take this long?

The moment they realized he wasn't moving up to HC after this long in waiting, and with the unremarkable results in the AHL...why wasn't that an instant firing? Start the process in a timely manner for once.

Still, it's a nice surprise to see them actually do this. Now we wait.

Why did it take so long? Everybody knows you have to wait 16 years before you fire a guy who took a slapshot to the face for your team. :)

If you go through the article Ant wrote, they didn’t fire him and want him to stay in the organization. But not as a coach, which doesn’t really leave options unless he moves down the food chain or becomes a scout. That tells me that they want to promote someone and we’re at risk of losing them. Ant mentioned John Snowden. I know Riley Armstrong is one of Briere’s guys.

Briere's former spot as intern is open.
