IDK about Tortorella being paid going forward. A case could be made from what he said in Toronto that he quit and therefore was not fired. Since he quit he doesn't get paid the fourth year. For once his big mouth may have cost him.
From what I've heard and read, Lappy was offered a different position within the organization but declined to take it. If so, he's out the money for next year.

So the Flyers are paying Torts and Lappy not to coach in 2025-26. Briere gave him a two year extension in June.

He blocked a shot with his face so I am sure Tortorella loved him which is why he was extended.

I doubt that. Quitting a job has a very specific meaning, saying you don't really feel like coaching a team in it's current position doesn't really fit that. Now, the Flyers might argue a breach, but I don't believe that those comments approach that level, either.

I genuinely enjoyed Lappy's time here as a player.

The organization's ability to kill my appreciation of some of my favorite former players is uncanny. Please keep Mark Howe, Pelle Eklund, Mikael Renberg, Shjon Podein, Sami Kapanen, Simon Gagne, and Kimmo Timonen away at all costs.

I always wondered why Tim Kerr was not somehow a part of the organization after his retirement...
