It made me want a coaches challenge or better replay system. I did think it had a baring on the end result happening so late and tying the score.

LA did not finish them off.

I understand the Rags pain but if LA is ever in this situation again, I say we as fans should make an effort to handle it with grace.

Sorry for the PSA. Lesson learned from last game.

This should be the definitive response to all the "refs suck and are against us" posts. I've made complaints about the refs, but never to the extent of this. Ranger fans, players, and media members sound like ****ing clowns.

oh **** yea, i was fuming after the detroit goal

and i was at the game, when clowe meathead stuck out his stick... thinking back, that was the game we lost in OT that helped determined the final seedings for the 2012 playoffs

who knows if Stolly scored on that 2-1, we could have won the game, got the 7th seed instead of the 8th... and not win the Stanley cup.

what a scary thought huh?

Funny how things work sometimes.

The thing about Detroit goal is Detroit fans all agreed that it was a bad goal.

All problems go away with Cups..... keep the eye on the prize :)

But yes they should have a better review system.

This, no reason it can't have a positive dialogue as an outcome, especially as it has now influenced a cup final game (brett hull foot in the crease, anyone?).

Of course, much of the dialogue has been nothing close to positive.

But agreed, things even out in the end. Cosmic payback for some of the goofy things that have gone on this year. Reffing regression-to-the-mean, if you will :sarcasm:

Spoken as a Kings fan. If it had been reversed there would be 50+ pages of how the refs suck and the NHL hates us and loves East Coast teams. Look it should not have been a goal but the story is how the Kings took that gift and made the bad call relevant.

"Refs you suck" is one of my giant pet peeves these days. There are folks out there so obsessed with NHL officiating, it's like they don't even care about the game. They are human, they make mistakes, it all evens out and it's part of the game.

i have been getting called a Homer all weekend by buddies here in Chicago because of the call. i never said it was a good goal. their question was "you have to admit that is goalie interference and shouldn't have counted". my response was simply to state the current situation when it comes to how the rule is written and enforced today.

goalie interference in regards to goals scored will ALWAYS be a gray area - period. there will always be some degree of human decision made on the call, which leads to it being subjective to some extent. it isn't an absolute 100% call everytime, because in situations like the other night you have 3 players all coming together and it comes down to the ref to make a call on who was doing what.

if the goal was disallowed, then LA would have been upset with the call. as it stands the NYR weren't happy. this a "you're F'd by the call one way or the other".

there are 2.5 pages in the NHL rule book talking about goalie interference and there is one major omission. video review. the NHL has to begin using video review as a tool and i think give the coaches one video review challenge.

think back years ago when the league moved forward to better protect the keepers and re-establish the crease as a true no-man's land. it cleaned up the out of control running of the goalies, but it had another effect. as time passed the goalies began to creep further up and finally out of the crease. they began drawing interference penalties out of the crease, which took the situation to far the other way. the league then cracked down and stopped making calls outside the crease and put in place today's rule of no clear interference, but a player can be in the crease.

this has been and will likely continue to get tweaked, but never have a clear and cut perfect outcome. there are too many moving parts taking place in a split second. there is a ref that must ascertain what the intent of the goalie, a dman and forward are all doing in and around the goal.

all this aside it still doesn't explain the fact that NY keeps letting 2 goal leads slip away

Kings fans are just as bad about blaming officiating. It's hypocritical to drone on about the Rangers complaining. If that had been Quick being interfered with we'd still be *****ing about it.

The Rangers STILL had a 4-3 lead at that point, and should have put the game away before it even got to OT. When they didn't, they still got some choice make-up power plays in OT to end it. Tons of chances. Didn't win.

These things balance out. That's why it's a 7 game series. Both teams are going to have a game where they get jobbed on something.

All fanbases who care about their team want the officiating to go their way but I'm pretty tired of this topic. This game is full of 2nd chances in a 7 game series.

Every team has been hosed on a call or two at this point. Give it a rest.
