I was NOT a believer but Cole Caufield is the BEST Player from the 2019 Draft.

I’d take Protas on my team above Caufield if we’re talking about the 2019 draft. Same Number of points, and is 6’6!!!

So as of now, I’d have Jack Hughes #1 Mo Seider, #2 Jackson Lacombe #3, Thomas Harley #4, Matt Boldy #5, Alexi Protas #6 then Caufield is fighting with Cozens and Wolf for #7

Comparing Caufield vs Boldy at 5v5 using Natural Stat Trick.

Boldy has the higher corsi for %, fenwick %, shots for %, expected goals for %, and scoring chances for %.

Caufield has the higher goals for %.

Boldy has ~ 50% offensive zone starts. Caufield has ~ 59% offensive zone starts.

Boldy would probably have the higher goals GF% too if his opposite wingers weren’t Zuccarello (13 ES goals) and Johansson (5 ES goals).
Ya i wonder how much playing with kap would help Cole?

You ignorantly state this like Boldy has been pasted next to Kaprizov.

Boldy has 215 5v5 minutes with Kaprizov and 780 5v5 minutes without Kaprizov this season. Over the last 3 seasons, Boldy has 900 5v5 minutes with Kaprizov and 2,213 5v5 minutes without Kaprizov.

Why don’t you tell the class how many 5v5 minutes Caufield has with and without Suzuki over the past 3 seasons.

6'6 with 18 hits this year shooting at near 23% and have a oish% of 15.9%. You would take anyone over a habs players

Size mean nothing if you don't use it prospi
He does though, tell me you don’t know the player without telling me you don’t know the player lol. He’s excellent at using his body in front of the net to screen goalies, fend off defenders and get to loose pucks first because he can bully defenders. Do some research before speaking to me.

I want the player that is 12” taller than the other. LOL

Yet he produces less than Caufield. Looks like all these perks doesnt yield his team more goals.

Elite goal scoring is much scarcer than size.

His “Elite” goal scoring, aka the 4!! Goals he has more than Protas? lol
They have the same number of points, and one has done it entirely at 5on5 while helping his team to one of the best records in the league, being 6’6”!!!

So yes, I take Protas.

That’s on you for thinking progression can’t happen with players season, to season.

Guess Slafkovsky will forever be a 40 point winger.

Funny how you jumped the boldy bandwagon to land on protas'. The guy with unsustainable shot %.

Oh and Slaf is going to be much better than Boldy and Protas.

Who talk about progression? Shooting 23% and having a oish of near 16% is not really sustainable. Not only that, the caps have 8 players with 40pts or more and plenty of them having career year. And you talk about 5v5 stats, caufield have 3 less pts than protas while playing on a team with 35 less goals......

Weird.
Boldy has 226 points in 268 games. +25
Caufield has 207 points in 269 games. -37

There isnt a single GM in the league that takes Cole over Boldy.

Cole is a one way midget who has been playing on a horrible team and given every single linemate/opportunity to succeed.

They made Boldy earn it the hard way and he has found a way to succeed no matter who he has played with. While being 6'2 200lbs.

I don’t think I’ve seen a thread where so many people arguing on either side of the debate have no idea what they’re talking about. It seems like it’s an impossibility, yet here we are.

12 points in 20 games is a “difference maker” lol

What does that make Anthony Beauvillier then?

Caufield hasn’t made the playoffs once since he’s been on the team in the regular season. There is a reason for that… he’s small. Still a good point scorer though.
Yup the reason why the Habs have not made the playoffs in a while is because caufield isn't 4 inches taller !! Genius

The gap in points is going to get bigger and bigger, Caufield is the better player and the habs will be a better team too going forward.

If Boldy had a competent winger to play with on the 2nd line Caufield wouldn’t even be close to him. Just laughable to say Caufield is the better player.
