I've always been under the impression that he wasn't really on board with bringing him on to begin with and quite honestly I can't really blame him. The timing of it was just so dumb to begin with. This isn't a hindsight thing, I've been screaming this from the hills since before he was signed.
The Rangers had a couple deep play off runs and made play offs every year with Panarin scoring 31 points in 36 games. Bad timing ?

In fact, Panarin never missed play offs in his career (unless you take the play in loss as such )

What's the best thing he's done, seriously? Probably the Trouba trade. Everything else has been bad or worse.

Its easily the Trocheck signing which even with his down year this season (to this point) has been a massive plus. Gustafsson last year was a good move which had positive impacts on the D even if it were in a bottom pair role.

He also got a 1st for Nils doofy ass. Traded it away trying to reassemble Panarin's super best friends squad in 2023 but isolated, that was also a massive win.

I thought his 2022 TDL was really good. Vatrano, Copp, Motte were all positive contributors during that run.

But to your point, we're 4 years into his tenure and the roster is still primarily made up of guys who were added during the Gorton years or were drafted while he was GM. Of the regulars/semi regulars on the roster right now, Drury guys are -

Trocheck
Mancini
Carrick
Vesey
Ruhweedel if you want to count him and his 9000 trips through the waiver wire.

Thats not even close to enough.

He inhertied some tough blemishes, but he added his own (some how got out of one unscathed) and hasn't really done anything to improve the areas that were obvious areas to improve and he had the pieces to do it. Lindgren and Kakko in the summer of 2022 probably gets you a pretty f***ing good LHD.

35 in 46 as a Ranger (counting the play in, 33 in 43 if you don't.)

He's their top paid forward and has led them in scoring each of his 5 years in NY.

He hasn't led the team in scoring in any of their runs. Heck he's been outproduced by Zibanejad over the last 3 playoff runs (not just collectively, but in each individual run as well) who gets shit on here constantly.

He also missed the playoffs in 2021.

When you look at what he's been able to do in the regular season, being sub ppg in the playoffs is a really bad look. It's not the only reason they've fallen short but he's definitely been part of the problem.

Panarin with 36 in 29?

Columbus offers Minnesota 1st and no retention

We would want to retain and maximize the value to a contender who wants him for 2 runs. He’d have to waive, but I think with the wheels falling off in NY, he would be fine waiving for two more cracks at the Cup. Unlikely to get it here, unlikely to get re-signed unless he wants to take a discount (also seems unlikely) and has control over his future the summer after next. Would he waive for Columbus? Minnesota’s 1st is looking quite late and I find it very unlikely that would be the best we could get for him. Colorado, Dallas, Minnesota themselves, Edmonton, Florida all seem like contending teams that would likely bid at 5.8M.

Unbelievable
Point 1 - coach sucks, point 2 - coaching sucks, point 3 - GM sucks, passing sucks, shot selection sucks, offensive zone time sucks, second shots few and far between, defense sucks, going into the hard areas laughable, hard to play against no chance, effort half way decent, if I never see Kaako again it will be too soon. There are others, too many to mention
Rose colored glasses are becoming clear. This is GARBAGE

I would say the players suck. Three different coaches yielding exactly the same result. What is the common denominator?

Abominable hockey. We could have played 30 periods and wouldn’t have scored.

Some of you owe Breadman a big apology, and should spend the rest of your days forbidden to eat sandwiches, burgers, etc. with buns / bread like those idiots eat where they put a burger patty between lettuce. 🥬

You have lost the privilege of bread.
I am not a Panarin hater but to be fair he is scoreless in his last 4 games.

I can't believe Drury doing his job somehow gets the blame while the team legit giving up is ok. f*** these players. I hope Drury gets rid of as many of them as possible and does so in a mean way that hurts their feelings and they'll have to wipe their tears with their millions.
I dont think anyone is saying that what the players are doing is ok. The reality is that replacing Drury is the easiest solution. What if this "mutiny" leads to Drury getting fired and the team gets their shit together and end up winning the cup? I know its not likely but I know I wouldnt care how they got there.

One thing about Krieder.
A month or so ago the Post broke the story that he had back issues. It referred to back spasms which, while no fun, can be worked through fairly easily. But then Molly referred to disc/spine stuff with no real explanation. Looking back the only thing that makes sense is his issues are more serious. You aren't doing squats or dead lifts with disc problems. I hope I'm wrong but he might be done.

I say keep the shit show together. Tank this season. It's already lost. There's nothing to salvage.

Sure if there's a nice offer for Kreider, take it. Some dumb GM would give up something of value for Lindgren.
Tanking may have the tangential effect of getting Mika to waive.

Another thing. They just take too much time to tee up shots. Even when they have positive control of the zone and puck possession, they cannot get shots through
They don’t have team speed but they also don’t play fast. Still, it’s amazing how quickly the wheels fell off their effectiveness.

I think the players are throwing games though. They are knowingly giving an effort designed to not win. Like pouting spoiled children.

I had a dream that I told our goalie (who was Japanese) that I was going to tie the game on a breakaway. I got my chance but puck rolled on me. Then I got another chance but no luck. Finally the other teams goalue misplayed a puck and I scored on a 30% empty net. I woke up before the game ended so it remains 1-1 ☺️

They aren't trying to lose. If they were the last thing we would ever want was to keep them.

I am not saying that they are actively trying to lose games but they are most definetly not giving it their all.
Some are and some aren't. Was same thing even in assorted playoff games the last two years just to a lesser degree. Bread, Cuyle, Schneider, etc are still trying. Ditto Vince, Chytil, Berard, etc. Problem is not enough.

When have any of these players come close to showing you they can win it all? I’d rather not continue to waste time and start cutting the fat and rebuilding the team from the ground up. Honestly don’t care whether it’s Drury or someone else, just want the supposed leaders gone.

I don’t know how anyone can look at Zibanejad’s effort on that 3 on 2 and say he is trying, I mean mental issues can lead to puck watching at times but that’s just a beeline back check where he was gliding
We have seen that same effort on a back check from Panarin, Laf, Vinnie etc. Happens numerous times every game. They are all lazy and dont give a f***.

I know some might not agree but coming within 2 games of the SCF twice in 3 years is close in my book.

If Rangers win in OT in game 4 and take the 3-1 lead, I dont think Florida would have been able to claw back.

That group did as much as they could. They overplayed their ceiling but its done imo.

This team isn't making the playoffs much less winning a cup. And replacing the GM because the players threw a hissy fit is the worst kind of message.
