I Think its Time we Send Wang a Message

If you want to send wang something, you should crap in a box, then to the left of the "gift" write

"You have done a"

and to the right write:

"job of running this team"

And send one every week. (with a bogus return address obviously)

If you want to sit back and do nothing that is your right. If I want to write and letter and gain some additional signatures that is my right. If someone wants to drop 10-15K on an ad in Newsday that is their right.

I don't have 10-15K just sitting around, therefore I am going the letter route. Maybe Wang or Snow will see it, maybe they won't. Maybe it will be starter fuel for Wang's fireplace. At least I can say I did something, because to me doing nothing is no longer excusable.

Nobody's rights are at issue, but the idea that there's anyone incurs an obligation (i.e. "no longer excusable") to take some sort of action regarding a hockey club is bizarre.

Being a fan is not a moral characteristic. It's not like being a parent or being a citizen. I enjoy being a fan because it's not moral (nor is it amoral, it's neutral) - it's an escape, entertainment.

As pointed out the problem with a letter is that, even with thousands of signatures, its still a "private" affair that will end up in a dusty ignored file or being "round filed"

What you need to do to initiate change within an entity that is in the public eye is to embarrass them. That is where the best bet is a video that by luck of the draw goes viral.

Imagine sports outlets and news outlets picking up on it.

But no matter how well done it does become a matter of luck.

i'm sure it will be included in your letter, but i'll ask you just in case you forget, to add how the fans are disgusted by an owner who finds every way imaginable to avoid even paying the minimum amount of salary required by the new collective bargaining agreement.

something that you might not have included but could be a good add would be this: is it possible that an owner that charles wang is responsible for some of the ill will that has built up between owners and players? while he may be doing nothing that is technically against the cba, he is in guilty of acting in bad faith when he makes a trade like the tim thomas swap. it can be argued that "weaselesque" owners like charles wang have poisoned the relationship between players and owners. no wonder the players have a hard time accepting the owners' position on the economics of the game! why should the players trust owners who act in ill faith toward them? owners like charles wang are roadblocks to open and honest collective bargaining and they contribute to long work stoppages. who gets hurt due to actions of people like charles wang? players, fans, people whose jobs are connected to nhl franchises...everyone really...except for wang himself, of course.

(just an aside, i honestly can't believe there isn't a movement among owners who actually want hockey to be played without work stoppages every half dozen years or so, to pressure him out. how can any of them think that he is good for the league? his cap circumvention methods destroy good faith in the bargaining process. seriously, if i were an owner that truly wanted a decent relationship with my employees so as to continue to grow the game and make more money for myself in the long run, i would grab him by the scruff of his little neck and tell him to get his act together or get the **** out...but that's just me.)

The player's union could care less if he's trying to skirt the minimum salary, because the way escrow works, the players (as a whole) receive exactly the same amount of money at the end of the season whether wang spends 30 million or if he spends 60 million.

Of course, the fact that the isles revenue is going to go to hell because less and less people want to pay to watch a joke of a team does impact everyone, especially if it ends in a phoenix like situation. That would cost the other owners a lot of money, since if the NHL loses money owning a team, where do you think that money comes from?
