I think it's time to talk about the Rangers

Given that, what's your take on the Rangers the rest of the way?

You're clearly good enough for the play-offs but not nearly good enough to win it and overall I think Hank is declining a little.

I don't really see where your team is going and I think the next five years could be grim.

Thanks for following up. I disagree that they are "not nearly good enough" to win the Cup. I think as constructed they are a contender, but one with an exploitable weakness on the right side of the blue line. And for what it's worth if you polled HFNYR--the saddest sack of pessimistic chicken littles in the known universe --they'd tell you they'd be thrilled to go to war in April with the addition of just a top 4 RHD.

Hank is declining, though, yeah. Sad to see for this Rangers fan.

Wasn't overly impressed last night. They got comprehensively outplayed by a very mediocre Flyers team yesterday, they just got netminding.

5th game in 7 or 8 days including travels.

What are you talking about?

Grim future?

Have you looked at the age of the Rangers' core?

They also have an absolute stud prospect in net (Shestyorkin), playing like an MVP in the toughest league not named the NHL.

Man, if you don't know what you are talking about, just don't post.

The Rangers have played like crap for 5 games or so.

They are still getting points which is all that matters while they figure things out.

I know I wanted to laugh so hard. People really don't do their homework around here. If the Rangers are in bad shape I ****ing cringe at the prospects of the Flyers and the rest of this division. Which team has the best future?

I think Shestyorkin will legit be the only reason I don't see the Rangers decline via the post Hank years.

Shestyorkin is probably the next Jonathan Quick.

And yet, the Rangers are in for DARK times...

NYR grab one big D Man, post expansion draft, and their window will be wide open for so long they might as well remove the glass...:laugh:

Even without a Cup win, the Rangers remain top three most hated franchises in the League.

Ever since we played them in a epic playoff series a few years back,i have always tried to follow them a little .I like their team, and I dont really find it surprising for them to be doing well .They just always seem to have a knack for finding good t 9 forwards, and forming a very good 4 line attack ,add in "The King" and that should always make you a much better team than most

girardi is playing rock solid right now...I have no complaints...is he great? no...but can get the puck out of zone with pressure on yes?...very few giveaways and he does not look out of place on the ice...they are way more worse dmen in the league than girardi...is he overpaid? definitely but the rangers are a better team with him in the line up than with him out

LOL. He is horrible at moving the puck out of the sone and has been horrible in november. He was less horrible in October but still very bad. In november he has been horrible and useless. We are definetely not a better team with him in the lineup. Maybe with sheltered minutes on the 3rd pair but i really dont think it would help.

Dont agree mainly because i dont think we will figure it out. Our defense is horrible outside of Mcdonagh and we have the second worst cf% in the league now. Its not sustainable unless we figure it out which i highly doubt we will with our defense. The exact same thing happened last season and we got destroyed in the playoffs.

That actually may be the first game this year were Lundqvist stole them a game. Truthfully Lundqvist start so far hasn't been anything special. If he continues to play like that and the forwards play like they have watch out. I agree that they didn't look too impressive that game. That's a sign of a good team though. Being able to win games even when you didn't bring your A game.

About what you would expect with their shooting percentage coming down to earth. They're still pretty good, but not bulldozing the league like they were earlier with 107 PDO. If Lundqvist gets it together they're quite comfortably a playoff team.

What is our record since this was first posted? I think we have a decently large enough sample size to say if this was a jinx thread or not.

18-9-2 if my math is correct. It was made the night we beat TB 7-0, so I didn't include that win.
