I never thought I would say this because at the time I was one of his biggest haters...

If Montreal wins this, everyone, and I do mean everyone from shanahan to dubas and to Keefe should be fired. They are all culpable, shanahan the most culpable as he is the president. The marner and matthews contracts are brutal, and I thought that before COVID came along forcing a flat cap ....

And we cant even blame the goaltender because hes been excellent.

A lot of things not to like about Babcock but the coach is never fully the issue or problem. Typically the issue arises because the players stop playing/listening to the coach and a change must be made however to pretend that only the coach is an issue and not 22 professional athletes/employees who no longer follow the chain of command is also silly to me.

2015-2016, the team's top line was Leo Komarov ~ Nazem Kadri ~ P.A. Parenteau

That time frame between then and now? The Leafs have not been anywhere close to be contenders. You can throw all the smoke and mirrors up you like.
But there's only two reasons why someone would promote the fact the Leafs were contenders earlier. 1. To sell the franchise to the fans. 2. To pretend the Leafs had a chance so you can torment their fans. Nobody outside of that would believe they could do anything. This might be the first season you're starting to see some of the star players buying into defense. This could go down as
a disappoints, but it really should be considered the Leafs first real kick at the can which has been severely hampered by some key injuries.

Leafs could win Game 7 and smoke WPG. In fact Leafs could have easily won the first game, if not for some flukey plays. Leafs could have won both these OT games as well. MTL is being dominated and Price is keeping them in it. There is nothing special about the Habs. Like a fighter losing on points getting dummied, but manages to throw a punch as the other fighter trips, and knocks him out.

Babcock absolutely was the problem with your team, he thought be could get away with playing peak Red Wings hockey, except it's no longer 2008, nor did he still have the horses like Zetterberg, Datsyuk and Lidstrom.

The problem is trading away Connor Brown as a cap dump and then trading a 1st to bring in Foligno.

Every single team. Every single one. Would sign him to that contract TOMORROW. If you thought that before COVID, then you were wrong before COVID. And btw - the cap is going to rise, so you'll be wrong again.

If they lose, Marner needs to go. This team needs a shake up, I don’t are how good he is. The players need to be held accountable. We can’t keep going through coaches, and never change the core.

The problem is that the Leafs hired a guy with NO front office experience to run a team. Shanahan is absolutely clueless. He then hired a guy who no other team would’ve hired to be their GM... and then he hired his buddy, which no other team would’ve hired.

The problem is that the Leafs have 3 people running this team, who should not be running an NHL organization.

Brown wasn't traded as a cap dump he was traded to bridge the value between a 5 year cap dump in Zaitsev and a 1 year dump in Ceci

Agree though with how ass Foligno has been when available the 1st we gave us for him was q terrible move.

Honestly at this point I just see us as the Knicks of the NHL, we are cursed and destined to lose. The Knicks having an exciting year this season and hopefully turn things around

Not sure when that happens with the leafs
 
No Babcock was a problem but the team is also a problem.
Lets not start saying Babcock is this awesome coach now.
