We lost our Great Dane Sunday after a brief illness. He was almost 9yo so we know he was punching above his class with his health/age. We had just taken him to the vet the week before for his annual and all was good. then...the vomit and not eating. Fighting the pain. It was too late to do anything. We kept him comfortable until the end and had a sleep over Saturday night with all of us in the living room together. At 4am he started punching me with his eyes wide open telling me something. I know what now unfortunately. And when we woke up at 6:30 we knew something was wrong. He left us in our arms and breathed his last breath, by his choice. We were honored he trusted and loved us that much. I will never be over him and our perfect love. He was absolutely a legend. He saved my life, was always there to comfort and be comedic relief, and to make sure our pack was together and happy. Rest well Wrigley...we are waiting for you and hope you are waiting for us. I hope you always feel our love as we do yours. See you on the other side my love.
