Anyway, so I got to go to quite a few games at the outset of 2000.

But, for whatever reason, I *still* wasn't hooked.

It was until after they traded for Brind'Amour and signed him to that 5-year deal in Jan 2001 that I started to follow them every day.

That spring came the first big game: the OT winner against the Caps. Maybe it secured them a playoff berth or something?

 

[geehaad]

But then, of course, came the first true home playoff series against the Devils. By this time, the Canes were a hot ticket and the other brother was making time for games.

Luckily, my friend at work had a college buddy who worked in the ticket office, and he got us comp tickets.

When the playoffs arrived, we got in, and it was great, of course.

 

[geehaad]

I got season tickets the next year and carried them until 2011, I believe.

I've been to every Canes playoff game except Game 1 and 2 of the 99 series with the Bruins.

I even flew to Boston to see 2 Lock Monsters playoff games against the Baby Bruins during the lockout.

I stopped being a daily fan from Jan 2014 until the EStaal trade in 2016. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

Honestly, the toughest thing was not having discussions on HFCanes to fill gaps of free time during my workday.

So, it's good to be back. And it certainly feels different this time around. Not sure what this management group will ultimately deliver to us, but it hasn't ever felt so right before.

Never played, didn't even start watching til I was 30.

But it's good to be a Canes fan, and it's good to hash it out with y'all occasionally.

Seriously, it's actually changed how I post...for the moment, anyway. I have noticed that I tend to want to say things that are likeable.

Many of you might have known me to be a bit curmudgeonly, and I couldn't argue with that. I think this Like button has changed that, strange as it is to say.

I find myself wanting to steer clear of driving a hard point and wanting to keep things light.

 

[geehaad]

So, in the end, even if this Like thing is all bullshit, and we're "gaming" it or whatever, it still has some benefit to the group as a whole.
