If you sit in a chair for 12 hours a day you better not skimp on it.

So true. A lot of companies will give their work-at-home employees an allowance for buying office furniture. It's worth it to throw some of your own in to get a really good chair.

Nice chair

How many degrees of freedom does it have

Tilt Limiter with Seat Angle Adjustment allows for a full range of tilt angle freedom and Adjustable PostureFit Lumbar Support ensures my back is fully supported at all times.

This is THE chair for programmers. It is probably the first thing a startup purchases once their get their first round of funding. Even used, you'll have a tough time finding this chair for under $800 (CAD).

Herman Miller does also have the Embody, which is somehow even more comfortable. I couldn't believe it when I sat in one... It has dozens of small arms with springs on the back that conform exactly to the shape of your back. It's like having your body supported by a hundred tiny fairies carrying you through fairyland while sipping on a milkshake made of heroin.

But that one is $1600 for the base model and well over $2000 if you want any form of adjustment. A bit outside the budget unfortunately.
