I think a more persuasive argument would be that the NBA has a full slate of Christmas Day games and the NFL does too

The NHL does the Winter Classic which nobody cares about but maybe a couple games on Christmas would be fun

I'm usually too busy watching A Christmas Story marathon but I would tune in at night for a NHL game

Tough to compete with NBA and NFL though who have ABC, NBC, FOX, and ESPN locked up
