I hate how Mears calls goals

It's like he can't decide if he's excited or not. He lengthens the "scooores" a lot and deepens the tone of his voice, but there's no emotion, it sounds fake and forced.

It's not even like a depressed Mike Haynes call when the other team scores which had charm, it's just annoying.
Some things you just can’t fake. When you have genuine passion and excitement for the game you’re calling, it shows. Regardless of team affiliation, or even nationality.

Basically that's what Jackets fans say about Mears, who is our new pbp guy. He is very listenable and then someone scores and people are like "that's it?"

He lengthens the "scooores" a lot and deepens the tone of his voice, but there's no emotion, it sounds fake and forced.

On the Jackets broadcast he occasionally can't stop himself from getting overly excited on a goal call and his voice cracks, which sounds worse.

He seems to be a very professional pbp guy who just doesn't have the pipes for a good goal call, we can assume he's worked on it for years. So sadly it seems keeping his voice down is the best he can do.

He was the Pens PBP for awhile and I liked him but this is a fair criticism.

Also, as much as I really do like Colby Armstrong, commentary is not his strong suit,

The part where it sounds like they're making him do PBP with an Xbox 360 mic doesn't help.
