You're resorting to GAA to determine an elite goalie? Well then using you're argument.. Jaro had a 1.97 GAA last season. That's pretty elite. Sure, he isn't playing at that elite level right now, but he has an elite talent as we all saw last year.

Your hate against Halak is completely over the top.

At the same time, you're totally inconsistent in your own logic. You have steadfastly refused to give Elliott a lick of credit for his last season, when he was better than Halak. Both were excellent, and one was a little bit better, a little bit more consistent. However, when one uses the same standards you just used to call Halak's 11-12 season "elite" and applies them to Elliott's last year, you come into threads swinging away at Elliott. You had a crusade to call Elliott "the backup" and Halak "the starter" all last year, and in GDT after GDT this year when Elliott is not even involved, you go after Elliott. The internal inconsistency in your argument is brutal. You are absolutely not an honest broker in this goaltending discussion.

No I'm just trying to point out the obvious that Halak has not and will not be an ELITE. Are you really attributing his GAA last year directly to his play? It was our system that allowed him and elliot to look like the best goalies in the league last year. We know that when Halak gets hot he is a pretty good goalie, but he also has COLD streaks where he seems lost in net. Elite goalies don't have cold streaks. IMO he has always looked lost in net. I watched every game during his '10 and I fell in love with the guy too. Two months later when we traded for him I was ecstatic, I thought we'd be seeing that Halak every game, unfortunately I have yet to see that Halak play in a Blues uniform.

And you saying I have hate against Halak is such a HF thing to say. You don't know me so how are you going to say I hate him. I never once used those words to describe my feelings for Halak.

Its getting harder to find good commentary on this forum. There is increasingly more emotion-laden extremism and pissing matches. But its still better than any alternative I've found.

I don't get it. People throw around words like hate and idiot whenever there is criticism of any player or differing point of view. Rather than have decent discussion, we get comments based on ego-driven subjectivity, which are not terribly insightful or interesting.

Seems like better discussion existed years ago. It is a shame.

I'm on record saying that Halak isn't a #1 Goalie. Trade Halak by the deadline, there are possibilities : I can dream about a change between the pipes, just saying...

Rumors that Washington is a possible destination for Halak per TSN, for Neuvirth? No... Holtby? Oh yeah.

Phoenix Coyotes G Mike Smith is a UFA this Summer. I know Armstrong wanted to sign Smith instead of Elliott 2 years ago. I'd trade Halak straight up for Smith even though Smith's a pending UFA.

Howard still has not resigned with the Wings is another. I don't see Howard leaving the Wings.

Other UFA Goalies this Summer are the aging Backstrom of the Wild & Tim Thomas, Khabibulin & Nabokov.
Without a second of hesitation I'd take Halak over all of the above, except Howard.

Howard would be the only one I would take before Halak. While I may bash Halak, it's not that he's a bad goalie, just not a #1. All of those goalies are either unproven (Neuvirth and Holtby) or are just too old (Thomas and Khabi are both 40 years old). Mike Smith had a good year last year but Tippett's system always manages to take their team to the playoffs and Mike Smith looks like he did in Tampa this year.

Name the last game you have thought "Wow we wouldn't have won had not Halak played like he had." Wasn't this season. And he didn't play in the playoffs.

Wow. You can't counter anything I said, so you resort to this?

He DID play in the playoffs, until he was injured. You are really going to hold that against him? How dare he not play while injured!!!

Look, you CLEARLY have something against Halak. I'm going to judge Halak by his career, not by 15 games in a condensed season with no pre-season and very little actual practice time.

And Halak's career shows he can and does steal games. Does he do it often enough to be elite? Does his play between games he steals make him elite? Is he the goalie the Blues can count on going forward to help them win the Cup? Those are legitimate questions. Ones that likely aren't in Halak's favor currently.

But if the best you can do is point to a 15 game sample size, and the fact that he was injured last post-season, to support your claim while ignoring everything I posted, then there isn't really any point in discussing Halak with you.

Because I'm done proving my point when I've posted plenty of things. The only points anyone ever brings up are, last season, Olympics, and one playoff run. No one talks about the 3 other regular seasons he's played.

I'm not basing his game off a 15 game sample? I've said numerous times he has lost his job to Elliott and Allen and the only reason he didn't lose it year 1 with STL is because our backup was Ty Conklin.

Any goalie can get hot and of course any goalie who can play at the NHL level is going to have good games, the problem is he has more bad games than good games.

But I'm done with this. You've stated your opinion on Halak and I disagree, let's leave it at that.
