The team isn't terrible even if it isn't great. Edmonton is struggling with offense and defense but somehow NJ will make their goalie look like a hall of famer. At least NJ avoids McDavid so they have a chance. Good news is MacDermid will be in so if Edmonton has a true heavyweight they can... what Edmonton has no true heavyweight and MacDermid lives by some code that prevents him from attacking the players he should actually attack? Great. I'll watch but unless Hischier or Hughes make it happen I'm skeptical.

So the numbers do suggest we are seeing better defensive play, as well as better goal tending this season as opposed to last.

I'm not disagreeing with that at all. It's just some people seem to think they aren't because they tend to get caught pinned a lot or giving up a lot of shots

Also it pains me to say this but MacDermid actually looked like a competent NHL player last night.

I mean the bar is so low but he seemed to actually be making plays and not skating like someone in an over 40 rec league.

I will say, he does look better than he did in the buffalo game. But he's still 5 minutes behind the play instead of 10
