Post-Game Talk: I’m naming your first born Leon

lol, what about the Kraken game? Or the ducks? One game and a back up/career AHLer is Hasek in the minds of this board again lol.

If Skinner played the Flames game the exact same, there would be pages about his bad rebound control on the first goal and not being able to track the puck in traffic for the second. But because it was Pickard it’s the players fault for not picking up the late man that got the rebound, and screens happen lol.

No bias at all, I’ve never seen a fan base cheer so hard against a player that didn’t clearly deserve it.
I think the standard might be and should be a little bit higher for your starter, don't you think?

It’s all our fault for winning the draft lottery, the we don’t deserve it crowd. So it goes, Leon just rides Connor’s coattails, he is horrible defensively, lazy blah blah blah. I still read the crap on social media. Leon right now is the best player in the NHL, there I said it.
I doubt any sane person would disagree with that.:thumbu:

That's on management not the player. Skinner was never supposed to be the starter until the "star UFA" signing shit the bed and couldn't play. He is the 36th highest cap hit goalie in the league and plays like it and should have had more support when he started his young career.

The vitriol towards Skinner the person goes overboard on this site (and other sites) all the f***ing time. People need to get over themselves.

And if you defend Skinner the person you get accused of being a relative lol. In reality I'm just a human and don't need to insult our own players on a personal level.

I hear and agree. I don't consider myself as one of those who gets personal towards a player and it turns it into hatred. That's wrong on any level and completely misguided. And yes, it is entirely on management for allowing it to get to this point, both prior and current regimes. My point about the expectations for a starter being higher than the defacto backup remain.

Skinner is almost as bad as Pickard, and I'm not even sure Pickard is actually worse. Yet you speak of Skinner like it's some huge margin of difference. He certainly isn't 1.6 times better than Pickard like his salary would tell us.

After six playoff rounds where Stu had one great series, imploded in three, and let in a weak goal in a Game 7 where the other goalie didn't, I'd say I've seen enough to tell me that Skinner isn't the answer. Is Pickard? Probably not, but he hasn't been given the multitude of chances Skinner has. Also, he played a hell of a lot better against Vancouver in last year's playoffs. Then again, Campbell outplayed Skinner the postseason before... Funny how even his backups make him look mediocre.

I guess it's semantics but I don't see either guy as a starter. We basically have two backup goalies and thinking of it that way makes life a lot easier.

Again, blame management.

Yup, it looks that way to me too. However, although knowing that makes it easier when judging them, it really doesn't make it easier for myself to accept as to why we don't have a legit starter after all this time and in this window. The cheap salaries are all well and fine in a cap world, but if the performance and results aren't there, then what does it really matter?
