Post-Game Talk: I’m naming your first born Leon

Bouchard tracks the 2nd attacker (76), who cuts to the near post. The 3rd guy back should be the one to pick up the trailing forward. That's on Jones for over-committing to the guy with the puck and not picking up 17.

It's absolutely amazing how may ppl on here attempt to breakdown a play and identify blame and get it completely wrong

This was really 2 games in one. When Draisaitl was on the ice he lifted this team and line mates coaxing Arvidsson and Podkolzin into real good games (4 and 5 shots) while singlehandedly putting this team on his back.

Unfortunately this team was not very good without him on ice with RNH (1 shot); Hyman (1 shot); and Skinner 1 shot but at least engaged with 5 hits and a smart OT apple to let the super elite finish his legendary game to beat another non playoff team.

Kudos to Pickard who was solid. Nurse had a good game. And fun to watch The Worm feed Backlund teaching this team a critical lesson to stuck up for one another.

Still playing for second place is a huge ray of sunshine in this season. As is watching a season for the ages by Leon Draisaitl. This game is a microcosm of what this year might have looked like without the Hart Trophy guy.

Will say to all the people who complain about Podkolzin, its not his fault the coaching staff puts him on Draisaitl’s line or that management can’t find a more effective winger for Draisaitl. Been one of the better storylines of the season for us. Hopefully next season he’s slotted more properly on a third/fourth line.

I dont have a problem with him not scoring.

I do have a problem with how soft he plays now, he thinks hes an actual top 6 player.

Kinda funny how Moneypuck has Draisaitl’s tieing and OT goal at like 5% chance to go in each. Clearly their algorithm doesn’t watch Draisaitl much.
Their expected goal model literally doesn't take the quality of the shooter into account at all. It's one of the big flaws. According to Moneypuck Janmark would have the same chance as Draisaitl at scoring from those locations.

Beat the Flamers and pretty much extinguish their playoff chances - check

Make it through the game without any injuries, especially Leon - check

Have Leon get his 50th - check (and then some)

Beat up a Flame - check (thanks Cory)

Have Leon cement his status for MVP and lay solid claim to the Rocket - check

Pretty satisfying night.

He is terrible outside of some decent shot blocks. Basically Kris Russell in the o-zone. He must've been getting lots of secondaries in SJ because 30pts in 50games looks impossible, unless he's getting completely neutered by this coaching staff which wouldn't surprise me one bit. But even still, all he does is fire the puck around in the o zone, and now we're starting to see his defensive warts.
You're aware that Walman is the leader on D for GF/60 when hes on the ice right? And thats with playing many games without McDrai in the lineup.

Yep, the 2nd line really didn't do a whole lot last night. The whole team played an okay game I guess (it's hard to look really good under the Flamers defensive blanket), but they got the job done. Kept it tight until #29 could do his work.

He looks great at fishing the puck out of the net though, am I doing this right?
Just because hes on the ice and in the frame when a goal is scored, doesnt mean its always his fault.

Just like the breakaway a few games ago the Oilers gave up, a bunch of clowns on here blamed that goal on him when he correctly kept gap control on the other forward meanwhile ekholm and the forward were taking a nap not covering anything.

I think Skinner has looked pretty good considering the shaft he continues to get from knobless. He actually earning his contract unlike that plug Arvidsson

First Cowshit goal was an easy rebound because Boosh is Mr lazy legs again.
I'm putting that on Jones. Back there watching the puck, he could have picked the guy up.
