HURRICANES LOUNGE XLVIII

You know it's Grade A Stupid when it's easier to renew your passport then your driver's license -- so that's what I'm gonna do. I'll renew the shitty old NCDL and just use my passport to fly domestic.
yep, this is my plan also

it was almost less of a hassle to get global entry than it would be to get a real id at this point

Part of my job is to try and not get too attached to the pets. They could pass on, the client could move, or they could simply stop using our services. But there's definitely a few that I'm happier to look after than others.
I have a crazy a$$ Husky that someone can have LOL (just kidding I love her). But seriously, all that $h1t you see on Instagram and FB, that they do is 100pct true.

Is there a Real ID apocalypse in NC going on?

Literally never heard of it in my life, so this thread made me Google it, and my GA license that I got like 9 years ago is compliant. Did NC just start super late or something?

Like I said, they've been pushing people to get it for like a decade now, setting arbitrary deadlines and then resetting them when the deadline passes and no one's gotten the ID. This last deadline (the 5th) was apparently the final one, for real, but it sounds like there's no major consequences for not getting one.

the apocalypse is with the NC DMV and how difficult it is to actually get an appointment to apply for a real ID without wasting multiple days standing in a strip mall parking lot or driving 2 hours away to go to a DMV location in the middle of nowhere
I plan to take advantage of one of the podunk locations surrounding me next week to obtain it. Gonna pick one where a section of the Parkway is open for a spin afterwards as a reward.

'tis time for an apple butter margarita:

The ncdmv has updated their website so there is a map/search function that shows "current" wait time (they also no longer have appointments after lunch so it is all walk-in at that point).

I don't know how accurate it is, but can't hurt to check all the spots within your acceptable radius.

I doubt the net time would decrease at this point:( inside and 4th!!!

Even if you get an appointment you still have to wait. Did mine a few months ago and even with an appointment I waited over 2 hours. Took about 5 minutes once I was called up.

The caveat there is that’s the estimated wait time am for after you check in, not how long the line is outside.

A lot of them only do appointments until like 12, and then only walk-ins after 12...but people get there at 7AM to wait in line for the 12PM walk-in, so if you don't get there by like 8AM you'll be 30-40 back in line and may not get in before closing. I made an appointment about 3 months in advance for 7:30 and thankfully walked out by 8, but there were already 15-20 people in the "walk-in" line outside

My realid appointment a couple years ago was several weeks out and it was in and out in 20 minutes lol. I had to renew my DL anyway.

Have you had Huey Magoo's? I think it blows all of them out of the water. It's over by Biltmore Park in Asheville. The homemade chips are great, too.

If your restaurant doesn't get advertised exclusively on a Food This Exit sign on the interstate, then your restaurant is too bougie to belong in this conversation.

Krispy Krunchy Chicken for the win. You got to get that shit from a gas station, and it's amazing.
