First season of Jack Ryan was outstanding. Second season was pretty meh. It was trying a bit too hard to ape Clear and Present Danger due to the setting and it missed the mark.

Narcos is another solid one that I'm re watching, though I haven't caught beyond season two yet.

It is the only series I've ever watched more than once, and I did so 2 weeks after the initial viewing, and within 2 months I'd watched it 3 times. I'm not going to say it's better than all these others, but ...c'mon now, hockey fans.

Succession, Broadchurch (original) and Mad Men for me. Of the overtly criminal, I liked Homicide: Life on the Street. Loved Andre Braugher and the cast - so well acted.

Love Somebody Somewhere on Max - gets little to no publicity but a fabulous comedy about the struggle.

Breaking Bad was the best of TV

I'm a huge movie guy and not a TV guy at all, although with a few exceptions. Reasons for this include:
1. The way tv shows are created is generally a lot more studio driven with episodes even within the same seasons having different directors and different creative visions that don't exactly align with the big picture season/series perfectly. They often feel staggered to me. And while obviously there has been a huge trend towards television, I don't find that television generally has the same quality as high quality films (a lot of movies these days don't either so not just unique to tv).
2. I often don't have the time or interest to keep up with the number of episodes to follow along in a timely manner. I don't binge watch anything.
3. I'm a big screen guy and tv shows aren't shown on the big screen for the most part
Disclaimer: I'm referring to traditional "series" with storylines lasting across seasons, etc. I love various sitcoms and animated tv shows that you can just sit down and watch any random 30 minute episode and have it be light hearted, funny, easy to watch mindlessly -- Cosby Show, Fresh Prince, King of the Hill, South Park, older Family Guy, etc. That is different than what I refer to with "tv shows" above.

All that said, there are a few exceptions that come to mind. Breaking Bad is one of them and was incredible. But I will say, I thought Better Call Saul was significantly better and is one of the greatest works of art ever created across any medium. Huge huge fan of BCS.

Others include Twin Peaks, True Detective season 1, and 24 (yes give me shit I know, but a unique show that I find to be hilarious and was a blast to watch live as episodes came out back in the day).

the shield and justified were, and remain, two of my favorite drama tv shows.

true detective season 1 is the best thing hbo ever did. oz doesn't get enough love for being a trailblazer and showing hbo what could be.

and i enjoy weird stuff. @AhosDatsyukian if you like the films of Alex Garland, Devs is a tv show he did that has a similar vibe. and mrs. davis on peacock is batshit and i loved it.

for columbo fans, and rian johnson enjoyers, poker face is something you need. as long as you can deal with natasha lyonne's voice.

Silo is good. We like that. expanse was pretty good. (Mars colony FTW) Family guy is pretty funny because they don't care who they offend.

Yes that's one I mentioned that I've seen and liked a lot. It's really more like a long movie than a tv series. Same director and writer for all the episodes, it concludes and is unrelated to future seasons which I haven't seen. And McConaughey and Harrelson were phenomenal and big name hollywood stars.

Amos is fantastic. So many great moments. Him and Avasarala finally meeting was comedic gold.

Funnily enough, I watch pretty much every single genre of film except Horror -- which appears to be what most of Garland's works are (and I haven't seen any of his films). Don't know why, I've just never really been drawn in by Horror films.

i'm not a fan of horror, either. i never thought of garland that way. but i'm mainly associate him with ex machina and annihilation which, come to think of it do have some heavy horror flavor, but i think of more as sci-fi with violence instead of horror with sci-fi. those two movies, and the show devs, all have a certain tone that i enjoy. it is a bit weird and hard to explain.

Edit to add, now that i am thinking about it, i'm pretty forgiving of horror when it is sci-fi. alien may be the best horror movie ever, but i still don't think of it as horror. but just so i remain inconsistent, i do consider event horizon horror.

about the only thing i will flat-out refuse to watch is the torture porn shit that got so popular after hostel and saw.

Those books IMO rehabilitated William Gibson as an author, who went from my favorite in the 1980s to complete garbage in the 1990s. Same arc as U2.
