I for one am shocked that Elon wasn’t prepared for the jump from private to public.

The same saying remains true as when he first bought Twitter:

"Hypersensitive narcissist buys criticism factory"

Except now he's put himself in the spotlight of people who aren't "terminally online" and they're starting to realize what those online have known for years: Musk is a manchild that can't handle being told "No"

And he's going scorched earth. Been terminating accounts of anyone who second guesses him yesterday...

That account now doesn't even show as suspended. It shows does not exist, it was wiped off the app after this reply

IMO, he bought twitter for one reason only and had nothing to do with the success of Twitter, free speech or censorship. He bought twitter to control the news narrative and impact an election in his own favor, and it worked. His net worth is almost double what it was right after he bought Twitter.

For sure, though I'll add that controlling the narrative goes along with free speech. It's hard to push disinformation if Twitter is constantly correcting you. But if he controls what's being seen, he can push whatever narrative he desires. And that worked especially well when he used the political divide to push those narratives.

But a good portion of one side of that divide has left the platform for bluer skies, and being pro-immigration is staunchly against the side that remains, so he's left with censorship to try and silence those dissenting voices on his platform

And again, he's silencing everyone because what he is saying is absolute bullshit and people on every side are calling him out on it.

This is exactly what I saw in the market this year. Right now is a terrible time to be unemployed in the tech industry. Companies are hiring, but they aren't hiring you, they're looking for cheap overseas labor. The RTP is loaded right now with companies that have signed contracts with the state to massive tax credits for filling out their local campuses, and satisfying those contracts by importing cheap H1B workers instead of putting those jobs in the hands of the local population. The last 3 companies I've been in had campuses where more than 50% of the workforce was here from India on a H1B visa. Meanwhile those kids right out of college from State, Clemson, GT, VT, etc are facing an increasingly steeper uphill climb just to get an entry level job.

And what really grinds my gears about this is that you have these dumbass extremists on every side trying to make this some kind of white people vs not white people when in reality Elon and Vivek are spitting in the face of every American. This is a crisis of the American labor market and it should piss off everyone regardless of your skin color. If you hold a US Passport, they are outright saying they don't think you are smart enough to employ.

The issue with this prick is that he became so wealthy and influential that even if he were to fall off... the fallout would be terrifying.

People clamoured for Iron Man... they got James Bond villain.

I mean, he was basically forced into it though? He floated it, signed some paperwork, then tried to back out, then spent months fighting in court arguing that he could back out, then was forced by the court to honor the paperwork and complete the deal.

There's probably some metaphor here about how you can apply and receive from the government a nominal anti-government terrorist symbol on your required State of Virginia license plate, without which you cannot legally use your car.

Honestly, I find it more concerning that some of the investors that helped him purchase Twitter in the first place included P.Diddy, a Saudi prince, and two Russian oligarchs that were (are?) part of Putin’s inner circle.

So we were talking about the "profit" part of healthcare. As I mentioned, my Doctor recently closed his practice and joined another (larger healthcare provider). I went to my first annual visit in December as I mentioned. When he was with his own practice, and annual visit was covered 100%. For some reason, with this new provider, who is in network, I'm on the hook for $94. Now, that's not a huge amount but I'm not sure why. I assume they charged for things that aren't covered or they charge more than what is covered. I will now have to find out why and push back on it.

When I looked at the details of the claim, I see a particular line item: $27 for a "behavioral assessment". You want to know what the "behavioral assessment" was? It was an online form they said I had to fill out before coming into the appointment. They never said it would cost anything, nor did they have to do anything with it. It was me filling it out online and never even discussed or acknowledged in the appointment.

The Dr. visit was no different than any other doctor visit I've had over the past 20 years. 5 minutes with the doctor where he ran through all the same checks, a blood drawing, and that's it.

This is the same provider that says I have to come back every 6 months because I'm on a regular prescription. I hate to leave this doctor as I've had the same doctor for 20 years, but I may have to.

Reading about that Duncan Lemp mentioned of the doc, it's probably better I don't disclose quite all of my social media accounts if I ever tried entering America.

Something to keep an eye on.

A few weather models are predicting the majority of NC to get absolutely hammered by a major snowstorm over Jan 7th to 8th. If some of the models are to be believed, it could be multiple feet of snow during that period
Even the Triangle? I will be pet sitting there then for a friend with 3 cats. Please tell me I won't be snowed in. Guess I won't be at the Canes games or house or car shopping either. Mother Nature has her own agenda, I guess.

Hoping the bulk of that doesn’t hit the mountains. Way too many folks up there still living outside of normal conditions.

From WRAL:

If you see posts on social media saying, “The Euro is showing this a week out” or “the GFS is showing this on January 7th,” take that with a HUGE grain of salt. Forecast modeling has come a long way, but it’s not going to give you an accurate result on snow totals more than a week out. That’s just fantasy.

For instance, the European forecast model has a full run of data that comes out twice a day.

Sunday's 12Z run showed 5” of snow in Raleigh through January 7th. Its previous run showed not a single flake. Monday morning’s run showed no snow again.

Yep, it's still very early, but it's worth monitoring. There's a huge cold front coming through next week that could plummet temps to below freezing for upwards of a week, and the edge of that system looks to park itself off the coast. It would be ripe for us getting nailed if it happens.

I would probably prefer it to snow. Because then I have an excuse not to go to work. Otherwise, I’ll be out in that 25-30 degree weather, freezing my ass off while the dogs I walk absolutely insist that the spot they sniffed literally 5 minutes ago is now completely different and worth spending another 10 minutes sniffing again.

That's nice, my dog, a big fluffy Belgian Shepard who loves the cold, is getting very old, that he'll have one last snow to frolic around in is comforting

EDIT: I saw @Boom Boom Apathy 's response, if this snow doesn't happen I'm holding you personally responsible for scaring the snow away
