As a Jets fan - I sure hope he stays in Carolina, as his most likely destination is the west. And likely Dallas or the usual March surprise for Vegas.Lebrun Athletic article today says there’s zero evidence the Canes have called a single team looking to move Rants. A couple of teams have checked in just to see, but the Canes have said the whole time the focus is signing him and Lebrun is reinforcing that those words aren’t just lip service but the actual truth.
This whole thread is baseless speculation, the Canes aren’t shopping Rants. They haven’t given up on anything, Rants hasn’t said no to them. He just got there and they’re just settling in with him.
Maybe something will happen before the deadline but to this point absolutely nothing has happened to suggest the Canes are trading him or giving up. It would be much more in the Canes lane to just keep him and let him walk so they have the cap space for the summer unless something that makes the team better presents itself.
Not saying I'd be upset, but not sure how he fits into the picture in TB. Cap strapped team needing little more than a couple of bottom 6 wingers that already has star power but is missing depth.Rantanen has Dallas,Tampa or Florida painted all over him. I don't think he has any interest playing Brindamour grind hockey. I think this will be the year Aho will completely give up on Carolina too. Carolina doesn't care about losing Necas though because they seem to value grinder players like Seth Jarvis over him anyway.
He is. He was the first to call the first rantanen trade. He may have an insider in rantanens or Carolina’s ecosystem.Kyper is legit though
It's a poll of agents whose job is to get their average players incredibly overpaid so they can get big commissions. This doesn't reflect poorly on the Hurricanes at all lol.Latest agent poll. Not very nice things to say about Carolina's front office.

Well, I would say that having an "over enthusiastic" owner to put it nicely, is not something that agents, other GMs, or maybe even the team's own GM and coach appreciate all that much when usually the chain of command is somewhat clear with how these things are run. It's a poll of agents whose job is to get their average players incredibly overpaid so they can get big commissions. The owner being so heavily involved raises an eyebrow at leastIt's a poll of agents whose job is to get their average players incredibly overpaid so they can get big commissions. This doesn't reflect poorly on the Hurricanes at all lol.
He'll make his money regardless though so the numbers won't matter in that regard. He prolly knows his numbers are gonna suck in Carolina and won't sign there.
Can the Panthers even offer him a reasonable contract? Let both Ekblad and Bennet go?Why would Rantanen go to Toronto? When he could go to Florida and sign with Panthers. Nice weather, little pressure, little taxes and nobody really knows who he is, so he can live a quiet life.

Im not saying he won’t be moved, of course it’s possible. Only that the Canes aren’t shopping him at all, it would be more like them to keep him and take the chance they lose him. The Lebrun article talks about Tulsky’s quotes from day one where Tulsky said he hopes that they keep him but were prepared that Rants might not stay. They never assumed they were keeping him. Necas wasn’t staying no matter what and they had a chance to get a guy like Rants so they went for it.Seems like a reliable source.

That being said, at this point I doubt he’s staying. I’ll be shocked if he isn’t moved.

He's not gonna get 14+.
The other way to look at it is that he knows he’ll get the same money anywhere and can control his destination, so he’s going to pick a team where he can have fun putting up good numbers for a long time. Still to be seen if he can do that in Carolina’s system and probably why he probably wanted to stay an Avalanche with Mackinnon. He'll make his money regardless though so the numbers won't matter in that regard.
