"it's too soon to say" so he just frames standard negotiations as uncertainty to stir the pot
Yeah of course if his production was tripled people would have a different opinion of the situation... That is kind of a given.Let’s get real here. There is no actual reporting going on.
This speculation overdrive is based on Rantanen shooting 4% as he settles into his new team.
If he has 4 goals and 9 points in 7 games, which would be not out of range for his shot creation in Carolina thus far - almost all of this noise would go away.
People see 3 points in 7 games and assume that everything is terrible, Mikko hates it there and thus we get all of these Twitter posts about “the buzz I’m speculating is that Rantanen may not be happy - but it’s too soon to actually say that.”
That’s literally what this is.
Cowan + 1st + Minten would probably be the ask if it was Toronto who was interested.Sure, he’d be great. But what’s the cost to acquire?
Imo for any club to pay a high cost to acquire Rantanen there would need to be an agreed extension. Have the Canes allowed other clubs go talk to Rantanen’s representatives?Cowan + 1st + Minten would probably be the ask if it was Toronto who was interested.
Then again Carolina is also in win now mode, so that doesn't really help them. Probably ends up being a hockey trade 1 for 1.
Maybe to Vancouver ? Boeser + 1st + a little
Funny how that works. The Canes are a great organization delivering constantly competitive hockey for their fans, yet they prefer following the Hornets or the Panthers eternal dumpster fires.Montreal is a fantastic hockey market with knowledgeable and interested fans. Carolina is not a hockey market. Where would hockey even rank there? 7 or 8?
I think you're conflating Raleigh and Charlotte here.Funny how that works. The Canes are a great organization delivering constantly competitive hockey for their fans, yet they prefer following the Hornets or the Panthers eternal dumpster fires.
