Looks cool, but as a Wings fan who saw the initial plans for Little Caeser's arena complex and what it actually ended up being, hope for the best don't believe the drawings or trust billionaires to live up to their promises.
This one may turn out differently since it isn't just Dundon driving the bus but rather a Government overview agency combined with a University (NC State) as partners in this project.

Keep in mind, this is just Phase 1, and expect to have it done before the 2027 college football season. They have earmarked $800m for the entertainment district, with construction expecting to last through the end of the decade, with hotels and office facilities expecting to be included later on.

This is also separate from the $300m that is being used for the arena renovations itself, the concepts of which you can see here: PNC Arena Renovation | CAA ICON

Oh, and one last thing - its not going to be the PNC Arena anymore. That signage was removed from the facility on Monday, and EA already leaked that it will be called the Lenovo Center going forward.

I wish they would go full weird UFO-looking with new hockey stadiums or shy away from looking like a UFO.

This just looks like a pedestrian vanilla UFO and I'm not really about it.

Architectually, I give it a C-

Love the greenery, if it ends up like the picture.

The area around the arena is surprisingly undeveloped, considering it’s more or less centrally located in the metro area. There’s a lot of public land nearby, and even the private properties are only partly developed.

I don’t expect it will last very long once this thing is finished. Landowners will see their chance to make a fortune selling to developers who Will scrape it off for mixed-use semi urban developments.

Little Caesar’s, Roger’s Place.

Owners will always show what COULD be, but will never build to that potential

What's wrong with Litte Caesar's arena?

I could name many with Canada Life Centre.

Someone still in the Detroit area can probably answer this better than me, but It's less about the arena itself (though the Red Wings logo in the renderings became the Little Caesar's logo) as it is the district around it. They built the arena ahead of schedule but haven't followed through on the promised development in the surrounding area.

How can you have a "city within a city" if it's largely devoted to parking lots and tailgating?

People who like tailgating haven't experienced actual good urban life.

Meanwhile the Sabres have built this season's marketing around having fixed the roof of our crumbling and decrepit shithole of an arena and adding a video board every other team in the league has had for years.
The excitement for the upcoming season is off the charts in Buffalo!

If it ends up similar to this that will be sick
