9 ruffies and 2 spruce grouse this morning in the rain.
3 ruffies, 3 spruce this evening.

I love Nopiming.
My buddy took his limit for the first time.

We ended up with 34 ruffies and 7 spruce over the 5 days and barely hunted the last two days.
We ate10 ruffies during the week to make sure we weren't over the possession limits.

A small fraction of the redpolls at one of the futures this morning.
We had five sharp tail grouse at a different feeder a half an hour ago.
The other picture is of 2 Hungarian partridges hiding by a hawthorn tree.

I thought I would add a couple of pictures of some fish we caught while trolling for pickeral on the Red last fall. That first catfish was caught by the tail.

I've never caught a cat while trolling... but i also don't do a lot of trolling where they are

Is that common?

Second one I have seen caught while trolling...the first was the other cat in the pics. The jack was also caught trolling...nothing uncommon, but we were on the Red and I don't think that is common. The one was caught by the tail...what a fight. Took line as soon as he was snagged. Crazy fight. All three of us thought it was a sturgeon. This was around Lower Fort Garry or a bit south.

Once i was trolling for musky and I had a hit... as I was dragging it in, I actually said "either this is a 50+ inch musky, or a foul-hooked pike"... sure as shit, I had snagged a small pike right in the side and was reeling it in sideways lol

Best fight I ever had was a 36-in carp that I snagged up by the dorsal fin when I was pulling my line in to check the bait. I thought I had a whale!!!

We caught a crazy amount of saugers/pickeral last fall that weren't hooked in the mouth while jigging.
First time I have seen so many fish caught like that.

Have three days and a 17 foot boat reserved for myself and my son to camp and fish up at Quesnal Lake at the end of June / early July once school is out. Wish us luck!!
Good luck!
Going for pickeral?
Probably be a bit deeper by then.
Some good spots for smallies up there as well from what I am told.
