The Hulkster was apparently in tears when the verdict came down. Tears of ****ing joy I bet.

The Gawker guys were speechless because duh, they need to start telling off their sites like yesterday. Down with that. Kotaku was better before Gawker gobbled them up.

Also they have to pay $50 million even if they appeal (in other states the settlement would wait).

Scary thing is if this holds up he has enough to start his own federation. And everyone can job to him like they did for Jarret.

I think this was a work by Hulk and Bubba from day one

I swear those court room tears was the biggest works of all works.

I'm waiting for him to buy TNA now unless he loses all of this in appeal. Or invest in Lucha Underground so he can pin Pentagon in the middle of the ring brother Jack.

To make an appeal, the loser has to put up all the money that has been awarded. That's capped at $50m. That money goes to the court to hold, not to Hogan.

Hogan isn't going to get anywhere close the awarded amounts as the company doesn't have that much money. They'll go bankrupt and he'll get a small fraction of what he was awarded.

I think he loses the $50 million if he loses appeal completely (a total reversal. I think odds are more likely the appeal would lessen the number but not fully rule against him).

His privacy was invaded, and he lost his job over said invasion of privacy. What he said was certainly wrong, but it doesn't mean he's subjected to be unknowingly videotaped, and have that tape subsequently released to the public.

Good for Hogan.

Whatchew gonna do Gawker when the justice system runs wild on you!

Gawker's attorney should have listened to the opening lines of the song. They would have known they didn't stand a chance.

When it comes crashing down, and it hurts inside,
ya' gotta take a stand, it don't help to hide,
Well, you hurt my friends, and you hurt my pride,
I gotta be a man; I can't let it slide,

I am a real American, fight for what's right, fight for your life!

I seriously hate lawsuits in this country. Absolutely ridiculous. Damages = dollars is one of the dumbest things I've heard of. It ruins so freaking much. As always, I hope the worst for Hogan.

I can't believe some of the dollar amount that get dolled out for these things.

Look at what Erin Andrews got. I mean what happened to her was terrible, but to get 60 million or whatever for it was outrageous.

No "emotional" distress is worth 60* million, save like having your family murdered in front of you.
*Is this the going rate for 'emotional distress'? Hogan and Andrews both got basically the same amount.

There's no doubt Hogan deserved to win this case though, as it cost him job/other money making opportunities. I just think the payout is ridiculous.

If there's a silver lining to this at least it probably ends gawker.

As Kimi Hogan will not see that money. As long as Gawker can get the $50 million bond they will get the amount severely reduced.

In fact the appeals court has a large history of overturning this courts rulings so Hogan might lose in the long run.

I watched a bit of the case on YouTube. Hogans lawyer was decimating one employee on the stand it was good stuff.
Gawkers websites are terrible. Clickbait garbage. The internet got a little less painful hopefully.

Hogan is a bad person but Gawker represents everything wrong with internet culture; they sell other's private information and print libel on a daily basis and feel entitled to continue to do so

Hopefully they never recover and the chief officers end up having to drive midnight cabs for the rest of their lives just to pay their legal fees

And Gawker were stupid enough to publish it.

Ooookay....except if it came out the "victim" was proven to have known all along he was being filmed and it was going to be sold to Gawker or some other interested outlet, well....then there is no *actual* case or damages, regardless of if they shouldn't be buying a third parties video.

People in the comments section of Gawker are saying they think Hogan leaked the tape.

I think that's an absolute possibility, though it was via Bubba selling it to Gawker.

Is everyone ignoring the fact Hulk Hogan is a con man and a notorious liar who has demonstrated a distinct lack of shame in recent years? Maybe the biggest liar in wrestling history, which puts him in the running for biggest liar in world history?

I'd say making racist comments was a pretty stupid move, but it's also pretty ballsy. No one's gonna believe he'd do that intentionally if he knew he was being filmed, right? Guy must be a victim.
