Well, with his agent being a bit of a jerk on Twitter last night...

If Hubby does want out, whats his value.

Keep in mind, one shit year does not a value make, and someone who is almost a PPG throughout his career didn't just forget to play hockey.

Calgary would like younger players back, and obviously will need to take some sort of cap back to make the transaction work.

I'm a Flames fan. His trade value HAS TO BE massively negative at this point. MAYBE we could trade Weegar. Even that isn't a sure thing. I like the original trade, but hated the extensions. Both should have been flipped at the TDL for a return.

I don't know if he's even tradeable for a bad contract that has term. It might be the worst deal in the league right now with honorable mention to Bob.

Someone was going to give him that extension. Maybe its a mill over, but in FA with multiple bidders prolly not, teams always overpay.

I will again reiterate that one bad season does not turn a guy who had the most assists for a LW in league history into a negative asset. Maybe the contract is a bit much but HAS TO BE massively negative is out to lunch.

I wish you were right but man, put yourself in another team’s shoes. Would your team want a soon to be 30 year old one dimensional winger making 10.5 mil until he’s 37/38? Unless he’s Kucherov or maybe Patty Kane that’s a really bad deal.

After this season he’s having he would not get close to 10 mil on an 8 year deal. Maaaaybe he gets 8x8 after this 50 point season, probably that’s even too much.

You can’t just say he would’ve gotten it as an FA so he currently has value, that’s a flawed argument. you have to consider that no team wants what he brings at his cap right now without sending massive cap back our way.

I think something like JT Miller for Huberdeau+ is the best we could get

Guys have bad seasons all the time. Especially when hes playing in a new system, new team, ect. If he was still in Florida playing with his usual boys, do you think he would have had this down year? Probably not. GMs will want to buy low on a player hoping he gets back to where he was.

Yes he will be 37/38 but the way he plays its not like his hands and passing are going to fall off a cliff due to wear and tear.

Some GM will take a chance on him, banking on him returning to form in a better situation. You telling me if he is setting up a pure goal scorer like Ovi, Matthews, Robertson, ect he isn't gonna produce? I find that hard to believe

I would really hope there are GMs out there who agreed with you. I just highly doubt it. Huberdeau has 2 seasons in his career over 80 points. Last season was an outlier. At 5.9M he'd be worth a 1st and decent prospect as a rental at minimum. I don't think he's a 50 point player like this season, but he isn't a 115 point player either. He's likely going to fall in the 70-85 point range for the next 3-4 seasons. That's worth 9ish million. The problem is the 4 seasons after that.

Nobody would give him that contract today and nobody basically could afford him

Some probably terrible ideas:

Huberdeau for Miller

Huberdeau + Markstrom (some retention) for Bob + Duclair

Huberdeau for Josh Anderson

I think you have to assume you'd be getting a massive contract in return.... and depending on the value of the player, perhaps other assets....But that's going to be a hard trade to make.

You know Florida traded him because thet wanted nothing to do with his contract?

You are creating a situation for them they worked to avoid

I mean Huberdeau had success there and I'm sure they'd rather have him over Bob.

If Markstrom is retained enough to make the cap in/out even in that trade I'd like to think Florida would take it.

Bob probably doesn't waive, but it's something to think about.
