what, you mean there's something suspicious about a guy that's less jacked than a middle aged Bill Murray going to looking like he could be in the WWE while breaking HR records? So I don’t follow baseball…at all…but I did see there’s this new bat shape that’s apparently allowing hitters to connect with pitches more consistently and get home runs far more often.

The MLB has apparently already come out and said these “torpedo” bats aren’t breaking any rules, but most fans think that’s just because they want more high scoring games and want to bring back the era of McGuire/Bonds without the (obvious) steroid use. The argument against the bats is that it would absolutely ensure that none of the current pitching records would ever be broken, at least until cybernetic arms are implemented and also “don’t break any rules.”

btw I'm not kidding about that

the first dude to hit 70 and (along with Bonds) the best visible evidence of the steroid abuse that took over the sport following the strike-cancelled 94 World Series.I have no idea who that is. Like I said, I know nothing about baseball outside of whatever interesting news piece escapes the baseball world into normal society.

That looks more like an RPG grenade than a torpedo. Maybe taleban has copyrights on RPG baseball bat and they can't use it.
Steroids don’t help hand eye coordination, still have to make contact with the ball. Never had a problem with that era.the first dude to hit 70 and (along with Bonds) the best visible evidence of the steroid abuse that took over the sport following the strike-cancelled 94 World Series.

Raise the mound back to 15 inches. Done.So I don’t follow baseball…at all…but I did see there’s this new bat shape that’s apparently allowing hitters to connect with pitches more consistently and get home runs far more often.

No argument there. Mac, Bonds, and Clemens were all on their way to hof careers even without being on gear. If anything the hypocrisy is on the writers that kept them out knowing how rampant other PEDs were in use in earlier eras (hello, greenies)Steroids don’t help hand eye coordination, still have to make contact with the ball. Lots of guys can make that sort of consistent contact but fly out a lot. With steroids those become home runs.Steroids don’t help hand eye coordination, still have to make contact with the ball. Never had a problem with that era.
Butttttt the pitchers were on it too! Their fast balls were faster injuries requires less time. Excluding Bonds, McGuire, and Sosa is like excluding current players because Ruth didn't have a personal trainer and dietician.Lots of guys can make that sort of consistent contact but fly out a lot. It was absolutely cheating and absolutely a problem.
Brady Anderson hit 50 home runs one year.Butttttt the pitchers were on it too! Their fast balls were faster injuries requires less time. Excluding Bonds, McGuire, and Sosa is like excluding current players because Ruth didn't have a personal trainer and dietician.
The batter has leverage and weight beyond his own arm. The pitcher does not. The advantages are asymmetrical. Batters get much more of a benefit, which is why offense went up in that era.Butttttt the pitchers were on it too! Their fast balls were faster injuries requires less time. I like to think it was the sideburns.Brady Anderson hit 50 home runs one year.
Brady Anderson.
The Steroid Era was ridiculous.
Okay, but where do we sign to get this to happen?A simple way to understand this argument:
Sebastian Aho shows up to training camp as usual, but suddenly he’s shaped like Ovechkin and scores 105 goals all on slapshots.
Now imagine reading the main board thread.
That has been baseball discussions about Mark McGwire and a few others since 1998.
