DOGE to the rescue! lolInterior Department says Gulf of Mexico now renamed to Gulf of America, Denali to Mount McKinley
While the Gulf of America will be applied to federal references, other nations will not be required to recognize the name.www.cbsnews.com
Hey, remember Freedom Fries? Well, now we’ve got something even stupider, and as a bonus, it wastes government resources!
I identify as dead inside, does that count?View attachment 967451
Would like to believe anyone clicking on the first option flags it as fraud.
The Gulf of America formerly known as the Gulf of Mexico (TGOAFKATGOM) would be catchier.
Lol we had an all hands last week where our CEO basically said something similar. Basically if it's law or something we are specifically ordered to do, we'll abide. But when it comes to overall direction, there is going to be the next administration, and we have to be able to operate then, too.See, the thing is, any change to the name will take many, many years before it reaches maps, textbooks, etc in the classroom. And odds are pretty good that whoever the next president is is simply going to change it back to the Gulf of Mexico (or ignore the Gulf of America name entirely and act like it was never changed in the first place).
So this act is purely performative, except outside of "the official federal nomenclature in the Geographic Names Information System".
Beyond ready, haven’t been able to ride my bike (pedal power) since New Year’s Day and I’m jonesing for a ride.50s and 60s on the horizon..glory be..we've survived January! Woo. It's been a long one.
Yep. On the scale of things that matter, this ranks below putting a stupid US Air paint job on the new Air Force One.See, the thing is, any change to the name will take many, many years before it reaches maps, textbooks, etc in the classroom.
