Your team is destined to lose game 7. You can’t change that. You get to decide how they lose.

Personally I would rather get stomped. There’s less bitterness when you lose to the better team.

Losing in OT would be too heartbreaking. I would keep thinking about the what ifs.

I’d rather my team show up. I don’t hold anything against the 2014 Blackhawks for falling just short in the WCF to the kings for example. If I were a leafs fan, I would not be happy with my team at all. Can you imagine paying $$$$$ to see that yesterday?

If I have to lose, I'd rather it be a heart-breaking OT loss, where you were oh so close, than a throttling that says you didn't actually belong here.
Losing 6-1 in game 7 signals you need to make serious changes. a 4-3 OT loss, a little tweak

If the core is young and you want to be optimistic, lose a close one.

If you're team is teetering on the end for a core, lose badly.

As a Leafs fan the rest of you don't need to answer because you lack our expertise.

Having played and watched sports for a long time, I try to be more process-oriented in my approach to fandom. At the end of the day you want to see your team battle hard, not quit, play together as a team, etc.

As long as they do that, I can generally live with the result and feel like my investment of time and energy has been worthwhile.

At least an OT loss means it was probably exciting and competitive hockey... but it def hurts a lot losing that way
