How would you rank the top 5 most valuable assets in the NHL today?

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Because the much, much better player is a bigger boost for a team. I’d rather have Quinn at 12 million than Suzuki at 8, just as I’d rather have Draisaitl at 14.
It's the term bro, 5 years > 2 years

You have a secure 1C on a phenomenal deal for half a decade

Or you have an elite 1D who's going to command 12M+ in 2 years and could be leaving as a UFA in the middle of his prime

If both guys had 5 years term left, hell if Hughes had 3-4 more years I'd go with him. But 2 years isn't a lot.

I get that, but it’s not like it’s a max of two years, you just have to convince him to re-sign. And most NHL players do re-sign. If UFAs left like they do in the NBA I think it’d matter more, but currently I wouldn’t consider moving Hughes for Suzuki.

Suzuki has never missed a game either. I don't think i'd put him ahead of QH at all but he's an incredible anchor for a team to build around.

If I was confident I could re-sign Hughes I'd probably go with him, but even then an extension is likely in the 12M+ range, maybe even 13 with where the cap is going to be at that point.

I don't care if McDavid and Makar need extensions soon, they are 1 and 2.
MacKinnon 3.
Draisaitl
Probably Jack Hughes 5; elite 1C for 8M for the next 4 years is about as good as bang-for-buck as you get.

My fellow Canucks fans, how are you getting baited this hard? I've never seen a more obvious troll. Let it go.

In no particular order:
McDavid
Makar
MacKinnon
Q. Hughes
Celebrini / Barkov / Draisatl / Hellebuyck (pick your poison)

Jack Hughes is top for me. Dude is a PPG/ 100 point scoring center making chump change for years and he’s still only 23.

When his contract runs out he’ll still only be 28 and depending on Jersey’s competitiveness could ultimately be the priciest TDL acquisition in hockey history.
If he misses like 20 games a season then it’s certainly not him

Jack misses too many games, to get in top 5.

Fandoms aside, I can't fathom how anyone could justify Makar, McDavid, MacKinnon, and Q. Hughes not being the 4 automatics, regardless of order!? After that, choose your flavor...

Elite: Draisaitl, Kucherov, Hedman, Hellebuyck...

The Roaring 20s: Matthews, Kaprizov, Pasta, J. Hughes, Dahlin, the Tkachuks, Fox, Werenski, Eichel, Shesterkin, Robertson...

The pups: Bedard, Michkov, Hutson, Johnston, Celebrini, Demidov...

The pending megastars: Harley, Guenther, Cooley, Oettinger, Carlsson...

Crosby is the face of the NHL, the increased valuation a team would get just from him being on the team isn’t easily matched.

If Crosby ever landed in Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver? The revenue would be ridiculous
Mentioning Vancouver with Toronto &/or Montreal when it comes to hockey fandom is laughable.

For now, until the Canucks miss the playoffs for a few seasons in a row. Biggest bandwagon fans in Canada AINEC.

Sure, heavily populated, but they’re not even close to Toronto and Montreal.
And then they will still be the 3rd largest fan base in Canada.

Even strength according to NST,

Makar 14 goals, 47 points
Werenski 14 goals, 45 points
Hughes 12 goals, 43 points

5 on 5

Werenski 12 goals, 39 points
Makar 11 goals, 37 points
Hughes 10 goals, 33 points
Q.Hughes - 5v5 - 59GP - 10Goals - 25Assist = 35P PPG = .593
Q.Hughes - ES - 59GP - 12Goals - 33Assist = 45P PPG = .762
Q.Hughes - PP - 59GP - 4 Goals - 21Assist - 25P PPG = .423
Q.Hughes - Total- 59GP - 16Goals - 54Assist = 70P PPG = 1.186

Makar - 5v5 - 73GP - 11Goals - 26Assist = 37P - PPG = .506
Makar - ES - 73GP - 14Goals - 33Assist = 47P - PPG = .643
Makar - PP - 73GP - 11Goals - 23Assist = 34P - PPG = .465
Makar - Total - 73GP - 27Goals - 57Assist = 84P - PPG = 1.15

Werenski - 5v5 - 70GP - 12Goals - 27Assist = 39P - PPG = .557
Werenski - ES - 70GP - 14Goals - 31Assist = 45P - PPG = .642
Werenski - PP - 70GP - 5Goals - 16Assist = 22P - PPG = .314
Weresnki - Total - 70GP - 20Goals - 50Assist = 70P - PPG = 1.00

Hughes has played injured a decent chunk as well .

Yes I do. Quinn is close offensively, but not in the same stratosphere defensively. There are multiple dmen I would take over Quinn for a complete game playing some actual defense. Quinn is more i nthe Bouchard tier for me being a hybrid PP QB, offensive FO only whenever possible guy.

True. A healthy season would goes a long way, but the AAV and PPG is there.

What a f***ing awful take.
