If trading a guy like Evans puts your team in a meltdown you just know they’re not there yet.

Evans shouldn’t be *that* important.
They do though, have to be careful that the group doesn't respond with a negative twist.
The group is looking for him to add, with their recent 5 game win streak..........how does he not add something to help???

To answer the question, we should be buying and selling, but if the offers for Evans, Armia Dvo etc are worthless then keep em and make a run..........we have prospects, we have picks........turning a corner with wins is a nice change for the entire group.

Because you need to look at more than 5 games.

Hold your cards til Friday, see what the team does in Edmonton.

- Prices will only go up the closer the deadline gets.
- Gives you time to see what's out there.
- Gives the team a chance to prove they need to stay together.

Evans and Armia need to go if the price is a 2nd or higher

Keep Savard and Dvorak

Dont care how many picks we have today the more the better picks are one of the most valuable pieces in the league you can always trade for players or move up you never have enough 1st or 2nd round picks

Can’t do nothing

If we want to push for playoffs , we need help (C)

Not trading our players or not buying will bring us in no man’s land , out of the payoffs and out of a top 10 pick. Not good

I dont think there is a market out there that would make a trade for dvorak and Savard "acceptable"

You have to explore 2c and 4RD market and be willing to move if there is a match

Evan+Armia: you move them for a top tier return only

I wouldn't want to be in Hughes shoes! Whatever is done is likely to make this board unhappy. Personally, I would not trade anyone that is on the roster and would instead try to acquire a 2C with the prospects and picks that the Habs have. Evans and Armia can always be traded at or before the draft. Their value might be a bit higher at the deadline but say that by some luck the Habs make the playoffs and Armia and Evans play well. It may up their value in the off-season if a new deal can't be negotiated with them. If I was GM, the last thing I would want to do this week is make some moves that could be perceived as a kick in the shins to the team. With Dach's injury, there is a spot to be filled that doesn't require trading a roster player. Players are talking about playing meaningful games now and how excited they are. It's time to send some reinforcements.

If we traded Craig Rivet for Gorges + 1st while in a playoff position (8th in the East) in February 2007, we can sure as hell do it with Evans and Armia
Is some team prepared to offer an NHL ready player (Gorges) + 1st rounder?

I’m not convinced of it - maybe one or the other but not both assets

Over last 29GP Habs are playing at .655 pts pace (18-9-2)

From that infamous Buf game on Dec 17 - that’s 47% of the season not a small sample set of data
It's true. But that's mostly because of the kids.

The most productive vet (28+ players) during that sequence is Carrier with 13 points in 29 games. Top 7 scoring is all players under the age of 28.

Suzuki 33 points +6
Caufield 25 points +2
Hutson 25 points +1
Slafkovsky 18 points +4
Laine 16 points -4
Newhook 15 points +0
Dach 13 points -6
Carrier 13 points +4
Matheson 11 points +5
Gallagher 10 points -6
Evans 10 points +1
Armia 10 points +4
Dvorak 10 points -3
Anderson 8 points -2
Guhle 8 points +4
Savard 6 points -4

It’s not only about stat watching - Anderson’s physical game has been terrific, as have the PK duos (Evans/Armia, Dvo/Anderson)

As for stats this is a depth based sum of all parts roster construction hence the league leading 11 players w 10G+

Habs have the best 4th line in the NHL, they’re bottom-6 have dominated opposition for 75% of the season

Remember when the Habs had the worst PK & PP?

Josh was a nothing burger suspect when the trade was made. An 22 years old undrafted 7th dman who was nothing special. He became a better player with us and exceeded his ceiling by quite a bit. If a team is not ready to trade a """"""prospect""""""" like Gorges then that team is not a buyer.

Josh Gorges was Webers partner in Kelowna, and specifically targeted & acquired for 3rd pairing role w Boullion - Gainey said so at the presser announcing the trade

I'm not stats watching i'm also watching the games and people overrate this group of vets like crazy. Most of them will be gone next season and the team will move forward without them. They are working hard but there's not much special about it most players are. They are interchangeable by similay depth players. Anybody who fail to see the impact of Hutson/Suzuki's line is blind imo. Hope Demidov will have the same impact on the 2nd line next season.

Agreed but this season to make a push for the playoffs they have formed chemistry, know their specific roles and are executing it well - and that push for playoffs (and potentially getting in) will provide far more benefit for the 53% youth on this roster that will remain going fwd vs 3rd & 4th round picks in a putrid draft class no less

New players coming in will take time to develop chemistry (look not further than All Star Rantanen) - this team doesn’t have time to spare w 21GP remaining on the schedule and every single point being life & death

If the guys constantly mentioned are that important to this team we don't have much of a team.If anything decent gets offered let them all go.If they don't get a second line centre it's not going to matter anyways .We would be lucky to win 1 playoff game with this roster. The opposing team will shut down the first line and it's all we have.

When a roster is constructed to achieve success when all pieces of the puzzle executing in synch…. that makes each piece of that puzzle vitally important to the collective

Sell everything

Sell everyone for assets

Yay, let's rebuild forever!

Mercer has played C for NJD, I’m very curious what Chris Boucher’s take is on Mercer as a full time C in the NHL…

With Hughes' injury I don't think the NJD are going to spend any at the TDL.

Gallagher and Calgary's first, for a 7th round selection.

Not spending a 1st to unload a contract that we're not desperate to unload.

Get rid of Savard, Dvorak, and Anderson (if you can). Keep Evans and Matheson unless you get offered something crazy.

I’m a big fan of Anderson, but boy do I hate his contract.

We don't have a pressing need to unload Anderson's contract and he's been doing yeoman's work for us.

On Futa show yesterday they said teams been scouting Savard been coming away unimpressed.

Futa? I didn't know it was cool to admit you were down with Futanari on the internet but whatevs.

Trade Evans and Armia at the Draft? They're UFA's amigo. If we're lucky the negotiating rights for both at the draft would be a 7th.

Josh Gorges was Webers partner in Kelowna, and specifically targeted & acquired for 3rd pairing role w Boullion - Gainey said so at the presser announcing the trade

Dude you got a great memory.

Yeah, that was an oversight... No longer an issue with Evans though!

I'd love to see the habs make some suprise deal where they acquire a legit 2C who is 26 or under with term./
Dylan Cozens would be a good target.
