Fire the coaching staff

Wait until the deadline to see what this team actually is. If they can make a push, and the odds are in our favour of making the playoffs. I would take a shot a big name on the trade board.

If the odds of us are between 40 and 50% of making the playoffs; I would do nothing, tell the room I believe in them, blah blah blah.

If the odds are 39% or below, I'm selling some players at the deadline.

Talk to a few players with NTC's:
Consider moving David Krejci and the $7 million dollar cap hit. I don't think he is a leader for the Bruins and not worth the money.
Consider moving Chara and get something back in assets.
Trade UFA's Liles and Moore for picks.
Decide what to do with Miller/McQuaid- move to a team looking for playoff depth
Decide what the future defense is going to be: Krug/Morrow/McAvoy/ Zboril/ Carlo/C.Miller/ Lauzon
Decide the top six core: Bergy/Marchand/ Pasternak/ Backes/Spooner/? /?
Identify your bottom six. This team needs some future stars in the bottom six. Will that be Spooner/Schaller/Blidth/ Vatrano/ Debrusk/ Senyshyn/Cehlarik/ Bjork/ Czarnick/etc.
Move Beleskey/Nash/Hayes to any team looking for their services.
Draft well.

Yea, this is exactly what I would do.

Not sure I disagree with anything I see here

I'd need God power to make my moves cause I'd have to get other teams to agree... deal with player right... get our own management on board... keep the fans faith

I'd start by identifying my keepers... I think that starts with bergeron, pastrnak, marchand, backes up front... chara, mcavoy and carlo on the blueline... and rask in net. That's 8 of 23 spots filled with guys/contracts I'm very happy with

After that I assess what i need to compliment these guys with the goal to win a cup. Can I do it in chara's window? Can I do it in backes and marchands window?

Can I consider krug to be a keeper despite his contract?
Will krecji accept a move? Is he worth anything in a trade?

Are there immovable contracts I'm stuck with?

What's the timetable on our best kids?

I have some pet trade ideas I'd kick the tires on... but until I talk to everyone I don't know my real options

All in all my plan would be set a target... get all my horses headed in that one direction... focus on filling critical holes with the right solutions... fill the bottom of the lineup with interchanagle pieces that show us they want to be here

And I value grit and compete over raw speed and skill... my team would be known as defense first and tough to play against

I'd have to be Jacobs, because I would start with firing Cam. I keep Sweeney for at least another year because I'd need to see how his picks start panning out. I'd fire Claude and promote Cassidy as interim and give him a shot at winning the job outright. I'd dump Hayes. I'd move Miller or McQuaid for whatever I could get. I'd sell hard at the deadline. I'd bring up the young guys from Providence and I'd try to see what we have. After the season was over, I'd do a hard, serious assessment of the core and move guys out that are passengers.

I must be ill because I find this the exact thing to do.

First, I wouldn't allow any of the fake news media into the Garden. Only the guys that are on our side.

Get more Russian players. I love those guys.

No more Nancys from Europe. Or college eggheads. I want real working players.

Bring back more fighting into the game. If the league doesn't like it, too bad. I know they'll try to get the refs to fix the games, but isn't that what's happening now?

Wear white again at home. And on the road.

Play all forwards, no defensemen. Attack, attack, attack.

Hot cheerleaders.

If I were Don Sweeney and Cam Neely I would start by firing myself. :sarcasm:

But seriously, we know Jacobs is going nowhere.

Move Cam into a non-hockey related role he's more suited for.

Retain Sweeney, give him the freedom to execute his plan, at his pace, the way he sees fit. If your not going to do that, then let him go. I think he's a smart guy being influenced by too many negative sources.

Including Ferguson and Bradley. Nothing good has come under Ferguson's watch. He ran a Leaf organization into the ground. Maybe he has strengths in amateur scouting and development, but so do a lot of hockey guys.

Bradley has been here forever, time for him to go. What is it he's bringing to the table here today that warrants his retention?

I swear this thread has been on here at least once every month during the last two seasons. lol
They haven't addressed their biggest need in that time and nothing has changed since.
That's the answer.

I'd like to see some fresh blood come into management/coaching staff.
Totally agree.
Any successful business owner hires the right people to build their company, usually they are people that are smarter than they are.
Bruins need to clean house starting with the management.
Never understood why they hired JF JR from the Leafs, he was horrible as a GM ( trading Rask for Raycroft, signing an aging Mike Peca, trading for Leetch when he was on the downslide, etc).
If he is at the rinks "evaluating" talent, we have a major problem.
For player moves, waive / get rid of Jimmy Hayes, he cannot play in the NHL, too slow.
Decide on who the core is, I would put Carlo, Pasty, Krug, Bergy, Krecji, Spooner, Rask, Marchand on that list.
All others should be shopped.
We have so many prospects right now, identify which one's we want to keep and get the critical one's signed ASAP, like Bjork, JFK.
Sell at the trading deadline and pile up more draft picks.
If you throw enough crap against the wall ( draft more players) you are more likely to find some blue chip players.
Ask Chara to retire at the end of the year, or trade him to a legit contender for one last dance.
Use the money that you save on a UFA next year, TJ Ohsie, Trevor Dayley?

Trade Bergy, Carlo, Pastrnak and Marchand for all of the bad contracts.
Waive Krug. Trade McQuaid for a 7th.

Fire Neely. Replace him with a "hockey czar" who will likely bring in his own new GM and coaching staff.

Deal pieces from the core to accumulate capital and cape space.
Keep Rask.
Deal fringe pieces and dead weight.

Acquire a number one defenseman at all costs.

With the number one goalie and defenseman in place, fill in from there.

The team needs a top 4 d and a top 6 winger. I'd look at what I'd have to give up to get both.

I'd then move cap at all costs. One of Quaid or Kmiller will go, hayes is gone, liles is gone, and the bottom 6 would be overhauled and be turned into youth with maybe one defensively responsible warrior that is a good locker room guy.

McAvoy wouldn't be moved. Spooner, Cmiller, morrow, picks, krug, dk, chara, (am I missing someone?) and a combo of prospects are all available for the right move.

Fire JFJ. This guy was brutal as GM in Toronto. Perhaps he's bringing the leaf bad luck to the bruins. Why he was ever hired in the first place is very concerning.
