I don't think Palms breaks out if he stays. The trade sucks in hindsight but he played himself out of town, same as Maroon.

If either of those guys played here to the level they are right now they wouldn't have been moved.

Palms break-out is a function of more ice time. Maroon is a different story altogether, I would still much prefer having him instead of Boll as even at his most ineffective he was still better than Blol.

Ice time was some of it, but I don't think all of it. His no show in the playoffs in 2014 was his kiss of death.

Second round exit. 3rd defensive pairing is too inexperienced, and only one of the top 4 has proven they can handle top minutes for an extended period.

Edit - if you're playing what-if's, I'd far rather have kept Beleskey over Palmieri. Solves the scoring and the toughness issues in one fell swoop.
