How Would You Describe Each Nations Playstyle?

The puck possession approach is not working for Team Sweden. They are underperforming. At best it's good enough to come second. No particular reason why they should be bridesmaids as much as they are.

Hallam will get it to work, the players need to learn the system better. What looked like a disengaged bunch was probably them learning.

How would you describe the Canadian, American, Russian, Swedish, Finnish, Czech, etc play styles?
USA: Goes straight on goal, attack like a NFL team. Lots of speed.

Russia: Skill, stickhandling, passing, Unpredictable.

Finland: Defensive, very structured. Easy to read hard to beat team.

Canada: Physical, forechecking, great at digging in the puck in front of the goalie. Lots of shot and traffic.

Sweden. Pucholding, roles assinged to each players, puck possesion.

Czech: Take advantages of puck losses, fast and deadly counter attacks.

Switzerland - hard working, can play a lot of styles well but none perfectly, losing to Germany in the worst moments

In a nut shell they are a very fast skating team but cowardly and terribly coached. They area pretty good on the pk but bad on the pp (unless Meier is on the team). Most of the players also have zero killer instinct when it comes to goal scoring in general. If you factor in the junior teams as well they also have terrible discipline when it comes to taking penalties.

I feel like they are in a weird spot...

For years they were the absolute kings of riding a good goalie and shutting it down and beating top nations. I often used to compare the old school teams to Greece when they won the Euro's.

Now, they have all these elite forwards (and D) and probably want to open up more and play a more open and enticing style of hockey. I also wonder if they NHL star guys can play that suffocating defensive style over the course of a tournament.
