How would another Stanley Cup Final loss impact McDavid's legacy?

32 teams and tons of parity, it's never been harder to win a cup than the last couple years

but theoretically if all that mattered were cups he could sign a 1 yr 1 mil deal and win

doesn't always help your legacy like durant. its more building a dynasty with one team that does

He had a nice game. Nice play on the pass to Draisaitl.

He was pretty good.

Had a good first period (nearly scored to make it 2-0) and had two big assists. I don't know if he got kind of lucky on the play to Ekholm or if it was a brilliant play (I thought he was looking for Kane, but who knows with him).

Some of his detractors keep saying all that matters is winning. Well, he won. Three more wins to get the Cup.

He back checked like a mad man too. The play he made on that soft Bouchard turnover in the first period was really impressive but it wont get on the highlight reel.

Judging by some of the posts getting liked during parts of last night’s game thread, I could tell his usual detractors were salivating, ready to pounce had the Oilers dropped Game 1. They’ve been quiet this entire run, and time’s running out.

Three wins. Two weeks or less. Then they’ll have to regroup and come up with a new reason not to enjoy watching the career of one of the five greatest players to ever step onto the ice.

The way his team loses would say alot too. For instance, blowing a 2-0 or 3-1 series lead would be a very bad look. If it's back and forth and they lose, it wouldn't be as bad. Obviously the no cup thing will still factor in to all time rankings.

I've also gotten pushback on saying he hasn't surpassed Ovechkin. Ovechkin has the goal record. Too many rockets to count. A few Lindsay trophies. CS and cup
