It's not Murray's fault. It's part Melnyk's fault. It's mainly MacLean's fault. It's not because you won Jack Adams last year that you can act like you're the damn coach in the whole league.

Stop giving Bobby Ryan, Kyle Turris and MacArthur 4th-line ice time. Last night vs Calgary, they had respectively 13, 13 and 8 minutes of ice-time. Mac was THE last player in ice-time. Ryan and Turris had less ice-time than Greening, Smith, Hoffman et ali. They should all have above 17 minutes, every single ****ing night, it's not rocket science.

Stop moving your lines around so much. Everyone is tired of it, even the players have said it. Bobby Ryan said it in an interview and you know he's already tired of playing for MacLean. He probably won't want to re-sign knowing he's used to play with Mac and Turris and now he's playing with Condra and has bottom 6 ice time.

In fact, this is the list of the players who should have more than 15 minutes of ice-time:

Spezza, Michalek, Ryan, Mac, Turris and Zibanejad. Add Hemsky since yesterday

This is the actual list of players who have this kind of ice-time:

Spezza, Michalek, Greening, Neil, Smith and Condra.

As he become blind he can't differentiate the damn numbers on the players backs? I really used to like Paul macLean but he looks like he has such a big ego, he looks like he'd rather show the players who's the boss in here than actually win games.

Also, Anderson has got to stop being terrible. I'm not asking to get back to his elite form from the last 2 years. But .905 isn't going to cut it. .915 is the average. Get back in the game Anderson.

I would put stop line-juggling at the top of the list, right before "spend more money."

I thought that with the promise that Hoffman would get a good, long look and the expectation that Hemsky would play well with Spezza, we'd see a few periods of set lines. 10 minutes into the 1st, the lines were all mixed up. It's just too frustrating to watch.

PLEASE FIRE MAC!!! That is all I want for my birthday!!

He is the worst effing coach ever. He got lucky because amazing goaltending saved our bacon last year but he doesn't know how to manage once he has pieces.

He is just a buffoon and he needs to go ASAP.

Its either going to be Mac or Ryan. That is for sure.

Did you even watch the game? MacArthur got hurt midway in the second period. And Calgary had 7 PPs.

Start feeding the players amphetamines. It probably wouldn't take much to diagnose over half the team with ADHD and then we could put them all on adderall

There's no way Melnyk will be willing to pay for Adderall. At the very best we could maybe hope for generic Ritalin.

Clearly, he lost this team and players are not playing for him anymore. I doubt he is winning them back.

What are the options for his replacement? Richardson? Laviolette? Jacques Martin? Bryan Murray?

I'd take Martin back in a flash if they dump MacLean. They'd be a comfortable playoff team now with him at the helm.

He would probably just buy sugar pills and put an Adderall label on the container. lol

MacLean isn;t the issue. He may make some questionable coaching decisions at times, but the primary issue is hat we have a ****** roster and he is stuck with lazy players. The only alternative to MacLean would be someone like Tortorella. Tortorella would ignite this team for a bit and then players would turn on him because they don't like getting yelled at.

The Sens really can't afford to fire MacLean. This organization has killed enough coaches that we have to start looking at the players again.

Wrong team defence saved us last season....

What I don't get & what seems to be the one thing no one seems to agree on is:

How do you explain the Senators success last season with so many injuries VS our failures this year as a healthy team?

Many say it was a lockout season where we only played teams within our division. Also hot goaltending. But there is an obvious difference watching games from last season compared to this one. The work ethic was 100% there from EVERYONE & EVERY player gave %110 effort on every shift, no matter what the score was. So where did that go? Was it just a bunch of young guys trying to prove themselves? Some sort of unsustainable fluke, perfect storm? Everyone was on the same page last year & this year it's like the players all have different books. Hell sometimes it looks like they can't even read. So how did we get from point A to point B? & how do we get back to point A without having injuries to a bunch of key players again?

It was the system and our three awesome goalies

Once most of our offensive guys went down we had no choice but to play defensive hockey. That coupled with great goaltending and solid leadership in Alfie and Gonchar led the way.

This year Maclean wants us to play Detroit hockey

The problem is our roster is clearly very, very far from being able to play like that

We've seen it in spurts (the game against Montreal when we came back from 3-0 to lose in OT) but sustaining it is another deal altogether

At this point in time our most important need is improved defense but not just personal wise, we need our forwards to be more defensively responsible as well

This is the list of upcoming dmen for the off season

We have 8 dmen and most of them are awful

We need to find a way to get a decent veteran that can play 20 minutes a night

They are not going to fire the coach they just gave an extension to last summer for 5 yrs I believe it was. As a fan base we need to move forward, yea this yr sucked but most of us knew Ottawa was not going to win the Cup this yr. If this ownership was serious about a playoff run this yr they should have made deals much sooner rather than wait until the last day. So what can we expect for next yr?

1. Will they re-sign Hemsky? My guess is Hemsky knows his name & Ottawa have been linked for yrs so why wouldn't he re-sign with a team that wants him? It's also quite likely that Michalek walks & BM will have to replace his minutes & pts & Hemsky would be the guy to do just that.

2. Roster changes - IMO Mark Stone should have been on this team this yr if not for injuries, my guess is that he makes the team out of training camp to replace Michalek on the roster. I also think that Hoffman & Boroweicki will be on the team & Lazar will get a 9 game trial.

3. Acquisitions - it's possible that BM & TM revisit making a deal for Stewart. Due to financial restrains I doubt they add more than one player over the summer unless someone is traded away.

While I like the idea of building from within. Not all of the prospects that are projected to be Top-6 guys are going to make it. Stone is an example of this. For the past few years we've been throwing guys who project into Top-6 roles into those roles hoping they stick. So far they haven't. I like Stone, but frankly, I'm tired of seeing us spin wheels hopelessly. We need another Top-6 fwd and one, probably more like two defensemen before this team is a legit contender. Then you use the younger guys to supplement the veterans and fill in during injuries.

SO after reading the forum the past 24 hours, the answer is to fire the coach and gm, sell the team to a new owner, trade everyone over 25 years old and ummmm fix the parking lot?

Easy peasy

We have brutal leadership core, disgusting defense, non-existent offensive bottom 6 support, underacheiving stars yet...

FIRE MACLEAN.

Nah, what they really needed is to go play some shinny on an outdoor rink in Central Park.

(too obscure?)

BM did say they would re-visit Stewart this summer with TM but I'm not sure he or just one player would be able to turn things completely around. Stone is really the only prospect I have felt all year from bingo who I thought belongs in Ottawa besides Ceci & Borocop. I am not a fan of very many others maybe Puempel or Schneider.
