How the *&*% is this a cap ceiling roster?

And to take it one step further, not sure if Boychuk/Leddy sign.

So a guy who has scored a total of less than 20 goals for the team (over 2 years) as a 2nd/3rd liner, and a mediocre 3rd/4th liner are the reason why we made the playoffs AND signed two top-4 defensemen?

You just love arguing with me-that's the only explanation I can think of.

I argue with you? :help:

I'm not talking about last season, I'm talking about the season before that. Do you disagree that they were key pieces on that team? Without them, our depth up front is significantly reduced. And yes, I truly feel without that depth we struggle mightily to make the playoffs.

Not only that but those two signings showed the NHL that the Isles are opening up the purse strings.

Do you disagree that it would have been a much tougher sell to get UFA's to sign for a non-playoff, cap-floor team?

Well I think we still would have made the playoffs, while Kulemin/Grabovski aren't terrible players-they're easily replaced.

I don't think that any player signs here to play with Kulemin or Grabovski.

The Islanders have proven to be ineffective at holding onto UFAs during Snow's reign (Vanek, PAP, Okposo, Nielsen, Smyth, etc).

Of course they are replaceable. But please tell me what two players would have "easily replaced" Grabovski and Kulemin if they didn't sign here in the summer of 2015? What two other UFA's would have signed here for less $ that offseason? The answer is no one.

It's not about signing here to play with them, it's about proof that the organization is serious about spending money. Not too hard a concept to grasp.

The Isles signed pending UFA's Leddy and Boychuk did they not? Those two are WAY more valuable than Vanek (piece of trash), PAP (piece of garbage). Smyth and Nielsen were offered better contracts by Snow than the ones they signed elsewhere? What can you do? Okposo was not part of the long term plan. Maybe that was a mistake. Time will tell.
