Great point. He is done too.

This is one of the most consistent yet painful things I do in the offseason. Time to watch and see who got fake or real points.

He scores a 5on5 tip against Ottawa game 4. And a 5on5 goal against Florida.

And that's it. Maybe I missed a 5on5 assist, but who cares it wasn't driving the play at all. Otherwise on the PP.

But there's limits to this too - it blows my mind that they might have to do a "Tanev" style deal in order to convince this guy to stay and keep the AAV down.

I think the Leafs absolutely have to grind this negotiation right down into a deal where it's a clear and emphatic "left money on the table" deal. For me, that's something like 3 x $4.5m.

At the end of the day he's still a 37 year old, who can't drive his own line, who needs elite players/speed on his wings, and needs to be sheltered against top opposition.

That's not the sort of guy you go long on, and that's not the sort of guy you simply cave into demands on.

Keeping Tavares until his forties would set this team back even more.

Since the last Florida series(4 total series) Tavares is on 36 point pace. How awful that is considering how many points are PP?

What are his 5 on 5 point total the last 4 series? like 10 point pace or something?

The only team Tavares did alright against was Tampa, and that's because they're way more of a slow tactical team.
But who else is available?!?! Huh, name me some names, stop being a hater. We need Tavares and we're not a team without him.

Yeah gonna be real hard replacing that 36 point pace with $11M I'm sure eh?

Domi has been better for the Leafs than Tavares all time. Let alone the last 4 series.

I get why, because Domi playing with Matthews in 2023 and the 1st line scoring just as well made some people dislike him, but he's been pretty good in the postseason.

For the Leafs 20 games, 11 points, 4 goals. 45.1 point pace. 16.4 goals(ahead of Marner last 5 seasons) NO PP1 time. NO Nylander. He has awful line mates too. Robertson and McMann lol. Last season against Boston he had to shoulder 1C duties when Matthews was out.

John Tavares 51 games for the Leafs, 31 points. 49.8 point pace. What the???????

Tavares produces 4 more points pace than Domi for the Leafs while hogging PP1 time and playing with Nylander.

Surely this is the last straw to convince people to let him walk.

Ay, make me GM, I make much more rational analysis than the clowns in charge.
