who is playing centre besides Matthews and Laughton?Leafs need to move on from him and Marner
Need new voices in that room and leadership
It's the GMs job to plug those holes.who is playing centre besides Matthews and Laughton?
That's the Gm jobIt's the GMs job to plug those holes.
There isn't a 2C in free agency that makes sense for them imo, and they have almost no trade capital left. That's the Gm job
Pretty obvious to all that the leafs are going nowhere with that core
Find a decent 2 C in free agency or in a trade
4 th line C you can find anywhere
shouldn't be to hard too find a C that disappears every playoffs and is weak defensively , lolwho is playing centre besides Matthews and Laughton?
They could try Nylander at 2C for more than just a game, it is something that Nylander himself has wanted for quite some time now. He was originally a center in the SHL & the AHL.who is playing centre besides Matthews and Laughton?

Willie just turned 29 and not backchecking never stopped Tavares from playing CNylander is 32 and still doesn't back check, he's not playing center.
This can't be plan A.shouldn't be to hard too find a C that disappears every playoffs and is weak defensively , lol
we have Domi as well at C and Willie drives the offense on the 2nd line so all they need is someone who's decent defensively and not a black hole offensively
CORRECTIt's the GMs job to plug those holes.
it isn't any worse than re-signing a player who's disappears every postseason !This can't be plan A.
If all else fails and you have injuries maybe this is a patchwork option. Probably not though.
If he has been a 50ish pt player for 7 years, why has he averaged over 70 points per year, even including the shortened seasons? No Tavares sucks, no excuses.
He sucks and is a 50ish pt player. He has been for 7 years now.
McDavid has dominated with 7 pts in 5 games. How his pts come doesnt matter. He has been very productive and driven his teams offense
*50ish pt player in the playoffs. If he has been a 50ish pt player for 7 years, why has he averaged over 70 points per year, even including the shortened seasons?
He's missed only 19 games in 7 seasons, and if you go by his ppg he's averaging 79 points per 82-game season.
Nylander is 29 and he backchecked much better when he was playing centre.Nylander is 32 and still doesn't back check, he's not playing center.
You're worried about a player disappearing in the playoffs and you complain about Tavares and not Marner?it isn't any worse than re-signing a player who's disappears every postseason !
the world will not end if the Leafs don't re-sign Johnny the Mumbling Ghost and if Marner walks we're f***ed regardless how this board believes he is the main issue holding back this team
i'll put it this way , how would have our team performed all these years with a second line C who could anchor the 2nd line defensively , chip in a few points and with a few million extra in cap to add some decent depth on the third line , imo it would have fared much better in the playoffs
if the Mumbler produced like Marner you'd be building him a statue on Legends RowYou're worried about a player disappearing in the playoffs and you complain about Tavares and not Marner?
I missed the 'playoffs' part. Mea culpa.*50ish pt player in the playoffs.
The poster was quoting Mcdavid in the playoffs and said Tavares would be putting up better #s in the West in the playoffs if he was on the Oilers instead of the leafs.
That was a baseless claim and does not align with anyone whose watched Tavares play in the playoffs. His game falls apart heavily
By his regular season production. He's 24th in total pts and 33rd in ppg since 2018 which is again unacceptable for how much he makes, but he still atleast somewhat valuable in the regular season.
In the playoffs he just becomes a 3rd liner who kills chances, can't make or complete passes, is too slow and put of position defensively and a liability on the team.
At 3-4M he can do that as a 3C with PP usage. At 11M he was a disaster for us
For sure Tavares at 4M to be a 50 pt 3C works better than Marner at 14M to be a 70 pt winger come playoffs timeI missed the 'playoffs' part. Mea culpa.
Still, relative to the regular season, he's not the one who disappears the most.
Regular season to playoffs drop in ppg:
Nylander 0.02
Matthews 0.28
Tavares 0.35
Marner 0.45
I have always maintained that his signing was a mistake, but he hasn't been bad. I'd rather have him for a couple of years at 4 or 5 than Marner at whatever number is being thrown around today.
Relative to the regular season, JT outperforms Mitch in the playoffs, and certainly doesn't shy away from the physical end in the same way.if the Mumbler produced like Marner you'd be building him a statue on Legends Row
maybe you can answer a question for me , outside of faceoffs , Perry being tougher and Johnny Discount having about a 10m higher cap hit what difference do you see in their game ?
relative to actual points which is the only thing that matters Marner far outperforms JT in the playoffs as well as the regular season as well being much better defensively and is an elite play driver !Relative to the regular season, JT outperforms Mitch in the playoffs, and certainly doesn't shy away from the physical end in the same way.
When Perry was 34 he was making 8.6, so that comparison is a bit misleading, and I've always said that the Tavares signing was a huge mistake.
Going forward, JT at 4 or 5 for a couple of years isn't a disaster.
Relative to actual goals which is really the only thing that matters JT outperforms Marner in the playoffs as well as the regular season. Marner is better defensively while JT is better at faceoffs. Nylander is really the only "elite play driver" we have.relative to actual points which is the only thing that matters Marner far outperforms JT in the playoffs as well as the regular season as well being much better defensively and is an elite play driver !
also i'm comparing Perry's game with JT's currently which is eerily similar so my point is it's not difficult to find someone to hang around the crease/slot for a hell of a lot cheaper than want Mumbles is probably looking for
it's very sad you feel the need to make yourself look this foolish just to fluff the MumblerRelative to actual goals which is really the only thing that matters JT outperforms Marner in the playoffs as well as the regular season. Marner is better defensively while JT is better at faceoffs. Nylander is really the only "elite play driver" we have.
This past season Perry was .37 ppg while JT was .99.
