How often do you guys (and girls) tape your stick shafts and blades?? Me, after I tape the blade once i leave it for a very long time. The shaft? Don't even get me started thats a one time thing for each stick! That's probably not the right thing to do. So how about you all?

Depends on how much damage is done after each game. I've retaped the blade after one game and I've retaped after an entire month. If there are areas ripped up or if the tape was really wet, I usually
retape.

I might retape the handle after a while if it gets a bit dodgy from the sweat from my hands doing dry land training without gloves.

I re-tape my blades whenever it rips from the puck, or if it starts to fray. That might be around once every 4 games on average, though sometimes it's 1 game or could be up to 7. I just do it as needed.

The shaft? Well, I still use the same stick I did 15 years ago, and the same tape remains.

As someone said earlier, depends on the damage done during a game. I have a set of ice sticks and a set of roller sticks, I'm not as particular about my roller sticks as I am about the ice sticks.

Before every game, and sometimes during it. Not as important with practices, maybe every other practice. I depends on the damage of the tape though. The shaft is only done once

I have to tape my blade every game for varsity its just something coach wants done. Sometimes in between 2nd and 3rd I do it too. As far as the shaft I candy-cane my shaft sometimes(if the stick doesn't have grip) and it gets turned up quite easily so I do that alot. Maybe every 3 uses I have to candy cane it again.

Exactly what I do. I run a strip along the bottom and toe. That seems to protect the blade and makes the tape job last a bit longer.

I use Tacki-Macs for my butt end, so I don't tape the shaft ever. The blade I re-tape whenever I wear through the bottom or get significant tears on the faces, so generally every 1-3 skates. No idea how people can get through a season with one set of blade tape, you must be really easy on the blades, my blade tape is torn to absolute hell if I leave it on for around 4+ games (I put a lot of force into my shots though, and poke check/abuse the blade a lot in general).

A stick doesn't last me a season:laugh: I found it hard to get the tape off if I left it on for a whole season when I was younger, the wax would harden and that **** ain't coming off.

Depends how late I am to my game. :D

I try to before every game, my tape usually gets all torn up.

I replace the cohesive gauze tape on the grip about once a month. The tape on the blade is replaced when the tape on the bottom of the blade is gone. Usually after every or every other game.

Blade after every game or Practice (sometimes inbetween periods in games) Knob I retape every 3 or 4 skates but my know is simply I dont use much tape on it :)

you'll notice if you retape after every game or two, you'll find the feel, dampening and mostly the ability to get the perfect saucer much better.

I overly by a 1/3 - 1/4 as opposed to 1/2, and use stick wax on the bottom half of both sides.

it works, its quick to retape and still enough ridges to allow for the air between puck/blade and enough tape for dampening

I think that once the ridges compress... no matter how much wax you put on, it just loses its performance.

for some people though they don't mind that... you should recieve a pass in the middle/heel area, and heck you can easily do that without tape there.

I never have to re-tape the handle as I use Tacki Macs. As for the blade, I re-tape that after every game & practice. My blade tape is usually pretty torn up after a game.

For the blade: Usually once every few games. As a lot of other people have said it depends on how much damage it takes. If I let it go too long the entire bottom of the blade will have zero tape and I'll wonder how I let it go so long.

For the handle: Usually once a season, which for me is about once every few months or so. Sometimes I go longer. It just depends on whether or not I feel like doing it.

I only re-tape if the damage gets pretty bad in the bottom half of the blade.

Do you feel if the tape job is getting old or is bad it affects your shots, passes, and ability to receive a pass? I dont, but then again I'm not that good haha

Like others have said, the tape for my hand grip stays on for as long as the stick lasts. I've never had a problem where I need to tape the top again. My blade depends. In ice I feel I tape it a lot more often compared to roller because of the damage done in ice.
